On Thursday, the politician shared a powerful open letter addressed to the anonymous victim with Buzzfeed News, commending the young woman's bravery.

The 73-year-old explained that her emotional statement about her assault is "forever seared" on his soul, writing:

"I am in awe of your courage for speaking out — for so clearly naming the wrongs that were done to you and so passionately asserting your equal claim to human dignity.

And I am filled with furious anger — both that this happened to you and that our culture is still so broken that you were ever put in the position of defending your own worth.

It must have been wrenching — to relive what he did to you all over again. But you did it anyway, in the hope that your strength might prevent this crime from happening to someone else. Your bravery is breathtaking.

You are a warrior — with a solid steel spine."

We completely agree. Speaking up and sharing her shocking story was incredibly inspiring and brave.

But President Barack Obama's second-in-command also explained that "a lot of people failed [her]" on the night she was attacked, adding:

At the hearing, the scandalized star pleaded not guilty AND was released on $150K bail. The FOX alum personally paid $100K of that money in a cashier's check he picked up on Thursday.

After hearing the 33-year-old's plea, the judge ordered a few restrictions before releasing Mark out into the world.

First, the Texas native must stay at least 100 feet away from schools, parks, arcades, and other places where little ones hang out.

He must also wear a GPS bracelet and is not allowed to be alone with minors.

Plus, he forked over his passport — probably because prosecutors reportedly feared he was a flight risk — and isn't allowed to do drugs, including medical marijuana.

What do U think of all this, Perezcious readers?

This is so awful.

Vanderbilt University freshman baseball pitcher Donny Everett died in a drowning accident, just one day before his team's first tournament game on their campus in Nashville, Tenn.

The 19-year-old pitcher was at Normandy Lake in Coffee County on Thursday when, just before 5 p.m. local time, sheriff's deputies received a call of 'a subject that had gone underwater.'

Everett was apparently fishing on a bridge over the lake with two teammates and two other friends, when all five people jumped in to swim across to the east side of the bridge.

Everett began asking for help, but all four other people apparently thought he was joking, since he didn't seem to be in distress and didn't appear to be struggling to swim.

By the time they realized he actually needed help, it was too late, according to a report from the Coffee County Sheriff's Department (below):

This is truly heartbreaking.

A dorm fire at a primary school in northern Thailand killed 18 girls overnight on Sunday, most of whom had been woken up by a classmate's warning only to go back to bed, thinking the fire call was a prank.

The 18 victims — between five and 12 years old — attended Pithakkaiat Witthaya School in the Wiang Pa Pao district of Thailand, just outside the city of Chiang Rai, and stayed in the dorm attached to the school.

Apparently the two-story wooden dorm caught fire at some point overnight (authorities don't yet know the cause) and more than half of the girls housed inside perished in the blaze.

Rewat Wassana, the manager of the school, was understandably distraught when she spoke to reporters and revealed that teachers and staff desperately tried to help the girls escape:
