The Cause Of Harrison Ford's Terrifying Plane Crash Is Finally Revealed

We just hope this doesn't happen again!

As we reported this March, Harrison Ford was piloting a plane when he lost control and crash-landed on Penmar Golf Course in Venice, CA.

Well now, we are hearing the official word as to what lead to the incident that left the legendary actor with several injuries.

According to a report from the National Transportation Safety Board, the vintage yellow and silver WWII aircraft malfunctioned because it's carburetor was worn-out and broken.

Essentially, the machine part became loose and rotated after years of use.

The document explains:

"The unseated jet would have allowed an increased fuel flow through the main metering orifice, producing an extremely rich fuel-to-air ratio, which would have resulted in the loss of engine power."

According to the Board, it is not required to check the status of this equipment prior to flight.

In air, the Star Wars thespian realized something wasn't right.

The report states:

"Shortly after takeoff, the pilot advised the air traffic control tower controller that the engine had lost power, and the pilot requested an immediate return to the airport. The pilot initiated a left turn toward the airport; however, during the approach, he realized that the airplane was unable to reach the runway. Subsequently, the airplane struck the top of a tree and then impacted the ground in an open area of a golf course."

We're just glad Harrison survived the crash.

Early in the series, the character appeared in Bran's visions as an actual raven. But in Season 4's finale, we met him as a man fused to the roots of a weirwood tree, telling Bran that one day he "will fly."
