Michael Chabon is responsible for some truly magnificent books and screenplays, and then he also created the characters that are the basis for the new musical Brooklynite.
He isn't involved in this production, but if he were it probably would have benefitted greatly from his expertise!
The show has lots going for it, but its book needs A LOT of work! And that's understandable given that the show's director, Michael Mayer, and the composer, Peter Lerman, wrote the book.
The songs, though, written solely by newbie Lerman are excellent!!! He has a real bright future in lyrics and music!
And the winsome Matt Doyle is the lead in the show, charming and singing beautifully as always.
Some serious rewriting and restructuring is needed for this anti-hero superhero tale that could be a lot funnier and more moving. But, like many superhero movies, it's good fun!
Let it be known: if you meet Justin Bieber on a mountain talk to him, because you're about to get a dose of wisdom, not whiz in a bucket like you might expect.
For those who don't believe that the Biebs has turned a new leaf, do we have a tale for you!
Apparently, Justin was hiking around Runyan Canyon, the place where one does some heavy soul-searching in the City of Angels, when he walked past a hiker and his wife who flagged him down.
Instead of throwing eggs at the hiker, or spitting on him, Justin did the unthinkable: he talked with him.
According to fellow hiker, Mike Maedke, they sat together on a bench looking down at the smog of El Lay below, when Justin spoke the following universal truth:
That is a huge milestone for the concussion-causing, overly macho sport.
But Sam isn't the only one, according to him! He said:
"I am not the only gay person in the NFL. I'm just saying there is a lot of us. I respect the players that did reach out to me and had the courage to tell me that they were also gay, but they do not have the same courage as I do to come out before I even played a down in the NFL.
Was it a risky move? Yes. But at that moment, the reason why I came out is I thought it wasn't going to be a big deal. Maybe I was naive. Maybe I thought it was 2014, and people will understand that there's gay NFL players. There's gay athletes everywhere. But I was clearly wrong. It was a huge deal.
The players who have reached out to me and told me about their sexual orientation, it just means a lot. But I will never say anything about who they are, what teams they are [on]. I'm just saying there's some famous people, and I'm not the only one."
It'd make sense to assume that obviously there'd be a percentage of gay men playing in the NFL but "some famous" players??
Sam makes it seem like even he was shocked at how many players reached out to him.
We hope others can follow his example. It's time to swing wide the closet doors in professional sports and let the fab out!!
It's 2015 people. The time for equality for all is now. Thank goodness for people like Michael, who are willing to take that first, crucial step!
However, some rumblings regarding his contract and solo career have come to light that prove to be very interesting!!!
The singer is expected to embark on a solo career, and it seems that his contract with record label Syco covered Malik not only as a member of One Direction, but also covers him if he decided to ever go solo — which, again, it appears he has!
Apparently there's a "leaving member clause" in One Direction's deal that will allow them to
Lisa Vanderpump is best known for three things: her fabulousness, her generosity, and of course Giggy, her adorable Pomeranian.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star and her perezcious pup attended the premiere of the hit Broadway musical NEWSIES at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday night, where she shared some EXCLUSIVE news with PerezHilton.com.
She's always been willing to give her clothes off her back for charity — this time, she's literally auctioning the shirt of Giggy's back!
Bravo and/or Broadway fans can participate in a special auction to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The highest bidder will take home a special package including: Giggy's custom couture opening night outfit, two tickets to the Wednesday, April 8th performance of NEWSIES at The Hollywood Pantages Theatre and meet "the Newsies" themselves for a "newsboy selfie" backstage, after the show.
At long last!
If you've been dousing your sorrows in Martinis over the fact that the teaser trailer for Spectre had not being released yet, you can stop… or continue! It's your choice. Martinis are delicious.
That's right, the first official (albeit short) trailer for Spectre has been released, and boy, is it mysterious.
Here's what we do know: this upcoming film that follows Skyfall deals with 007's secretive past.
At one, point a bleary eyed character by the name of Mr. White tells Daniel Craig (aka the sexiest James Bond ever), that he's a "kite dancing in a hurricane."
Whoa, now that's a classic line from a James Bond film!
Ch-ch-check out the trailer (above)!!!
