South Carolina's state senate made a big move on Monday, getting one step closer to banning the Confederate flag from their Capitol.
In a landslide decision, the senate voted 37-3 to take it down. But, the fight isn't over quite yet.
Before the flag can officially be lowered, the Senate has to vote one more time, and then the bill has to go to the South Carolina House.
The proposal to remove the it came as a result of last month's devastating shooting at Charleston's Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, where nine black people were shot to death because of racist beliefs.
South Carolina governor Nikki Haley is thrilled that the Senate stepped up to bring down the banner, saying in a statement:
"The South Carolina Senate today rose to this historic occasion, with a large majority of members from both parties coming together in the spirit of unity and healing that is binding our state back together and moving us forward in the right direction."
But even with the governor backing the decision, there's a possibility the House might not vote the same way as the Senate.
So, Nikki pleaded with her state's other political institution to follow suit:
"I applaud the Senate's decisive action, look forward to the Senate giving the bill third reading in the morning, and ask that the House act swiftly and follow the Senate's lead."
The Senate won't be convening again until Tuesday, but we really hope all the necessary votes go through to make this change happen!

But is it really over for good? The parents had been dating for almost ten years, and this isn't the first time they've broken up.
Back in 2010, the couple split for a little bit because of issues with Scott's substance abuse, but the two had still managed to reconcile.
However, sources say that this time is different, and Kourtney has finally had enough:
The Minions movie hits theaters this weekend, and we can't wait to find out the origin story of these adorable yellow creatures!
Ever since their debut in the 2010 animated film Despicable Me, Gru's minions have won the hearts of audiences with their childlike innocence and incoherent one liners!
But the foreign creatures, while adorable, raise a TON of questions! Which is why we hope the upcoming Minions movie provides some biological information about the perplexing species. After all, it's the right of the people to know…
Amanda Peterson, whose claim to fame was a starring role in Can't Buy Me Love, has died — she was 43 years old.
The former actress' body was found in her Greeley, Colorado home on Sunday after her father said he got worried because he hadn't heard from her since Friday.
He says he doesn't know what officially caused his daughter to pass at a relatively young age, but did explain that she had sleep apnea, which is a sleep disorder that causes breathing to repeatedly stop and start.
Her father said the disorder, along with another illness, could have contributed to her passing.
Amanda's rise to stardom happened when she was cast as Cindy alongside Patrick Dempsey in the iconic 1987 film, but she left the life of fame and fortune behind in 1994 when she dropped out of the entertainment industry and moved to Colorado.
Our hearts go out to everyone who is affected by this sad loss, and our thoughts are with them during this tough time.

We never thought we'd actually hear him admit to it!
Well, as we previously reported, the 77-year-old was attempting to keep his court documents from September 2005 sealed because he didn't consider himself a public figure…
But the records of Andrea Constand, who was one of the first women to come out against the Cosby Show star in 2013, were just opened on Monday, and what was revealed was incredibly damning.
In fact, Bill actually swore under oath a decade ago that he had purchased Quaaludes with the intent of drugging young women!
He said the report was embarrassing, but we didn't actually think they'd be that incriminating!
The exact wording of his admission was as follows:
