Shawn Mendes, Michael B. Jordan, & More Petition For A$AP Rocky's Prison Release As Rapper Continues To Live In 'Inhumane Conditions'

Fans and fellow artists are rallying behind A$AP Rocky as he continues to live in allegedly inhumane conditions in a Swedish prison.
As we reported, the rapper is being held at a detention center in Sweden while prosecutors determine whether or not to charge him for aggravated assault stemming from a street brawl he was involved in earlier this month.
While he continues to live in this “disease ridden” jail — where the water is said to be filthy and the food inedible — his supporters have started a Change.org petition in hopes of setting him free.

Seemingly created by the A$AP Mob, the petition claims Rocky and his crew have been denied their right to counsel and could stay in jail until a trial is scheduled for mid to late August.

It also argues the 30-year-old acted out of self-defense when he fought a man who wouldn’t leave him and his entourage alone, and is being kept in “inhumane conditions” — including “24/7 solitary confinement, restriction of amenities for the most basic of human functions, access to palatable and life sustaining food as well as unsanitary conditions.”
As of this writing, the petition has already garnered over 370,000 signatures, with many artists co-sponsoring the movement. So far, some big names to promote the petition include A$AP Ferg, Post Malone, Miguel, Lil Yachty, and Guess Jeans.
Shawn Mendes also took to social media to promote the movement, sharing on Twitter:

Another celebrity endorser of the cause is fellow rapper G-Eazy, who shared a link to the petition on his Instagram, along with the caption:

“Asking everyone to go right now and sign the petition so we can help free my bro @asaprocky this is crazy, holding him for 2 weeks while they decide whether to prosecute him or not. Every signature and every post helps. Sign and share the petition. Link in my bio #JusticeForRocky”

Michael B. Jordan was another celeb to demand #JusticeForRocky on his own IG page, writing:

“I’m here with my brotha @asaprocky we stand with you ?????? sign the petition to bring my guy home”

The petition comes a day after it was reported Rocky had been living in dire conditions since he was arrested last week. According to TMZ, Swedish officials violated a treaty with the U.S. that granted Rocky the right to immediately see an official from the U.S. Consulate.

The Multiply performer was said to have arranged a meeting with an American Consulate shortly after his detainment. However, the U.S. official was reportedly denied access to the detention center — which he believes was because Swedish law enforcement didn’t want him to see the conditions inside the facility.
He was eventually allowed to see the Consulate, but only in the presence of two Swedish guards, preventing the rapper and the official from having a private conversation. Rocky’s team is currently trying to get the State Department involved in hopes of getting him home, but Swedish courts have apparently shut him down so far.
The investigation into the street brawl that got Rocky arrested is still ongoing.
