Sales Of George Orwell's 1984 Soar Thanks To 'Alternative Facts'

KellyAnne Conway inspires soaring sales of 1984.

Yes, this entire Trump presidency so far has felt deeply Orwellian!

So it's no surprise that sales of George Orwell's dystopian masterpiece 1984 have soared after Kellyanne Conway used the phrase "alternative facts" to describe Press Secretary Sean Spicer's statement that Donald Trump's inauguration had "the largest audience ever."

The book has since reached the sixth spot on Amazon.

The "alternative facts" phrase echoes two key concepts in the novel, "newspeak" and "doublethink," that mislead, push a propagandistic agenda, and erase attempts at independent thought.

Newspeak is defined as "ambiguous euphemistic language used in political propaganda," and doublethink was described by Orwell as "the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them."

Kellyanne ConArtist can somehow make herself believe that Trump's historically LOW inauguration crowd numbers were the opposite, and that takes some awesome brain gymnastics!

We recommend getting the book if you don't have a copy yet — it's a chilling prophecy of what our world might soon become!

no title

Yeah… we're calling bull on this.

Remember how we told you about Katy Perry's diss track towards Taylor Swift called 1984??

Well, it seems as though KP's people didn't love that most fans were siding with Tay Tay, because now they're saying the song isn't a real thing.

Even though it's a literal fact that Katy registered the 1989 ripoff, her people clarified that she had nothing to do with the singing, writing, or recording of the song.

We totally respect Katy for standing up for herself, and making a song called 1984 is the perfect eff you to Taylor, but back peddling seems silly.

Just do you, Katy!

R.I.P. Stealing Towels In Hotel Rooms

hotels to electronically protect their towels

Good news, Bed Bath & Beyond! People will need to buy towels once again, because they're not going to be able to steal them from hotel rooms anymore.

While it hasn't become a massive trend yet, hotels are starting to install electronic chips on their towels and linens in an effort to keep from them getting stolen by guests keep track of their inventory.

As far as the towels are concerned, they cost approximately $1 more than regular towels, but we SUPPOSE it's worth it if it means that they won't go missing.

The only downside - these towels and linens are dirty because the electronic chips can't be washed…

JK! They can absolutely be washed! Sounds like a creepy, 1984-like inneresting new piece of technology to us!

What do U think about this new security method?
