Letterman Jokes About Studio Break-In On Late Show

At least this struggling actor is getting exposure!

Check out the video (above) of last night's Late Show monologue, in which David Letterman jokes about the drunken 22-year-old part time actor who broke into the Ed Sullivan theatre and trashed it.

All jokes aside though, we maintain that the troubled young man who committed the crime needs help ASAP.

We see the humor…but it's also kind of sad.

It Was A Blackout Break-In! 22-Year-Old Doesn't Remember Trashing Letterman Studio!

This guy def needs help ASAP!

Earlier today, we heard about 22-year-old part-time actor James Whittemore, who was arrested yesterday after getting drunk, breaking into the Ed Sullivan theatre where David Letterman's show is taped, and causing $2,000 worth of damage.

The general consensus seemed to be that he was an overall good kid who's had a rough run of it…but as we said earlier, that still doesn't excuse such inappropriate, illegal behavior.

Now, Whittemore's attorney is saying that he doesn't even remember the drunken incident!

Whether or not it's all a blur, the consequences are quite clear, and now it looks like he may be responsible for as much as $5,000 worth of damage!

If he's getting drunk to the point where he could do $5K worth of damage and not even recall it, we're thinking a rehabilitation facility MAY be in this guy's near future.

Drunken 22-Year-Old Part-Time Actor Trashes Letterman Studio!

letterman theatre trashed by drunk 22 year old

This is simultaneously sad and scary!

22-year-old part-time actor James Whittemore was arrested yesterday after getting drunk, breaking into the Ed Sullivan theatre where David Letterman's show is taped, and causing $2,000 worth of damage.

According to Whittemore's family, he's been troubled ever since he had "first hand experience with his mother's suicide after alcohol addiction." Sad.

Whittemore faces burglary and criminal mischief charges after he drunkenly kicked opens the theater's doors, "upended bins, and turned over velvet rope stands."

Here's what playwright Nancy Hasty had to say about the actor, who she hired for a reading in 2009:

"He was very, very industrious, very, very professional, very dedicated. A good kid with a bad life."

Sounds like Whittmore's had a rough run, but that's still not an excuse for him to behave so inappropriately. We truly hope he seeks help and gets his life in order!
