Controversy doesn't ever seem to leave McDonald's!!
One of the biggest and most well known lawsuits to ever hit fast food happened in 1992, when a cup of McDonald's hot coffee spilled on 79-year-old Stella Liebeck in Alburquerque, N.M. She suffered third-degree burns and was hospitalized, so it's actually way worse than people realize.
She sued McDonald's and won $2.9 million for her pain and suffering!
Since then, more and more lawsuits have been launched at the franchise, many of them just hoping to strike gold again.
The most recent, though, has a little more weight to it than the others: 74-year-old Joan Fino, from Fresno C.A., was burned with second-degree burns to her groin after coffee spilled in her lap at a drive-through.
