It's been nearly 14 years since the deadly terrorist attacks of 9/11, and now, three young men who lost their father in the attacks on New York City are finally getting their victim's compensation money.

Tyshawn Ward, Trent Ward, and Dujon Holland — who were 14, nine, and 13 years old, respectively, at the time of the attacks in 2001 — lost their father John Holland that day when the 30-year-old was killed while working in the kitchen of the World Trade Center's restaurant, Windows of the World.

The boys, who grew up in poverty after not having a father to provide for them, should have received $1 million in compensation money, but it was lost through the cracks after officials failed to notify the young men it was available.

Now, all three are finally getting their due, though nothing will bring their father back. The lawyer for the boys, Salvatore Diliberto, located the money in 2013 after more than a decade of missteps by the government. He said:

First buildings, then skyscrapers rise as you go up story after story, and then, for just a second, as the clock passes through September 11, 2001 — the World Trade Center goes away.

The moment is almost imperceptible at first as the years tumble by so quickly. But when you notice the sudden disappearance of the other tower, it's very affecting!

David W. Checketts, Chairman and CEO of Legends Hospitality — the company that created the observatory — believes marking the event was the only way to honor the original World Trade Center. He explained:

9 11 hero dog honored like true american hero

Bretange (pronounced like "Britney") is a real American hero dog!

She's a 15-year-old golden retriever, and she's believed to be the last living 9/11 search and rescue dog.

Bretange and her owner, Denise Corliss, went on their first deployment 13 years ago today: to ground zero of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The most tear jerky thing isn't the search work that Bretange did at ground zero, though.

It was the

Ugh. We…can't…even…

Officials at Boston's Logan Airport issued an apology after goofing big time!

Massachusetts Port Authority decided to hold a full scale fire drill at the airport in question, with smoke and flames and literally a mock plane on fire, on the 12th anniversary of 9/11.

We'll let those of you who were drinking while reading that last sentence continue your spit-taking for the next 3-5 minutes.

In their defense, Logan Airport tweeted that the smoke and fire were part of a drill, but not in their defense, who follows airports on Twitter?!

Meanwhile, Logan Airport's Facebook page received dozens of complaints, including one from an upset person who had this to say on the faux-pas:

"That is ridiculous. Have some respect. People died 12 years ago on flights originating out of your airport. How dare you."

Yeah, the last thing any traveler wants to see on 9/11 is smoke and fire on any airfield! What the shizz were they thinking?!

By noon today, Massachusetts Port Authority wised up and issued this apology:
