Game Of Thrones Author George R.R. Martin Drops New Excerpt From Next Book — And It's Already SO Different From The Show! Read HERE!
Now that Game Of Thrones has officially outpaced the novels it's based on, showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff agreed that the HBO fantasy series would deviate from George R.R. Martin's source material.
And in a new excerpt from Martin's newest novel The Winds of Winter, it's clear they weren't kidding around!
The newest book in the Song Of Ice and Fire series features several storylines and major characters that fans of the show haven't even met before!
For example, the latest chapter is told from the perspective of Princess Arienne Martell of Dorne, an important point-of-view character in the novels who doesn't even exist in the show!
In the books, Airenne is the eldest daughter of Prince Doran Martell — who was suddenly killed off in the Season 6 premiere episode — and the heiress to House Martell's seat at Sunspear, the capital of Dorne.
Aside from Airenne, the new passage is riddled with characters and plotlines that never made GoT — which swapped out Doran's meticulously crafted revenge plot (yawn!) for Ellaria's cutthroat takeover with the Sand Snakes (all minor characters in the books)!
Check out a passage from the excerpt (below) to find out just how far Martin's books have deviated from the Emmy-winning series!
