Tom Cruise Blows The Weekend Box Office Into Oblivion!

tom cruise fish face gif

Sorry, Jackie Robinson!

Tom Cruise just proved that he can still send a movie to the top of the box office!

In fact, with the actor's latest sci-fi extravaganza, Oblivion, he secured himself one of his biggest opening weekend ever, as it pulled in a pretty impressive $38.1 million!

Excluding the Mission: Impossible flicks, this his is most lucrative since War of the Worlds!

And that was when Dakota Fanning was still a child!

Despite his throne's usurpation, however, the aforementioned baseball legend's new biopic, 42, held steady at the #2 spot with $18 million, while Ryan Gosling's new indie The Place Beyond the Pines expanded release by 1,500 theaters and made it to #6, with $4.7 million!

42 Hits A Box Office HOME RUN! Scary Movie 5 Does Not!

42 weekend box office

Sorry, Lindsay Lohan!

Even your toilet-clogging, crazy antics on the set of Scary Movie 5 couldn't generate it enough buzz to put it at the top of the box office for its opening weekend!

Instead, the distinct honor went to the critically-acclaimed Jackie Robinson bio-pic 42, when came in number one after making an estimated $27.3 million between Friday and today!

And that's pretty impressive in itself, seeing as the majority of movie-goers paying to see the flick were over the age of 25!

To be fair to Scary Movie 5, however, we're pretty sure everyone else below that age went to see the fifth installment of the horror movie parody franchise, as it managed to secure itself the #2 position, with $15.2 million.

Even that, however, wasn't enough to make back its production cost of $19.5 million! OUCH!

But you can see what over movies manage to fill out the rest of this weekend's box office top ten…AFTER THE JUMP!!!

Evil Dead And Jurassic Park 3D CRUSH Human Bodies The Box Office Competition!

evil dead box office

We bet there are a whole lot of people still holding onto their limbs tightly this weekend!

Because Evil Dead absolutely DOMINATED the box office for its opening weekend, as it came in the number one spot with a VERY impressive $26 million…$2 million more than expected!

Meanwhile, G.I. Joe: Retaliation lost its footing not only lost it footing with the cult-classic horror remake, but also with The Croods, as the action sequel and animated comedy tied in the numbers two and three spots with $21.1 million!

And NO OTHER movie could even stand in the way of one that pretty much everyone on the planet has already seen, but not quite like this: Jurassic Park 3D!

The re-release of 1993 classic made a solid $18.2 million, and landed in the FOURTH - or third, depending on how you look at it - position!

YAY DEMONS! YAY DINOS!

G.I. Joe 3 Already In The Works!!

gi joe 3 development sequel box office hit big number global

If you're into cheesy action movies starring muscles and explosions, we have got some FABULOUS news for you!

Let's ignore the fact that today is April Fool's, and let's look at the fact that the new G.I. Joe did well enough this weekend to warrant a third in the franchise — and it's already in development! That's right, $132 million global on it's first debut is MORE than enough to get another one!

Plus, Retaliation is doing much better than the first go around for the franchise, even if the first one cost almost $45 million more to make! It's on track to beat it in the long run too!

If you aren't a fan of popcorn movies, well, we're sorry about the bad news. LOLz! Go watch 400 Blows again or something!

G.I. Joe Retaliates All The Way To The TOP Of The Easter Weekend Box Office!

easter box office

Well, well, well…

It looks as though the delayed G.I. Joe: Retaliation was worth the almost-year-long wait, after the studio pulled it from its original summer 2012 release to warrant a 3D conversion!

The Rock and Channing Tatum-starring action sequel made its much-anticipated debut this weekend at the TOP of the box office, pulling in $41.2 million between Friday and today…and $51.7 million if you include Thursday night premieres!

And if you include the overseas figures, we're talking $132 million…the biggest worldwide opener of 2013!

Not too shabby, right?!

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for The Host, which didn't come close to competing with the weeks-old Oz The Great and Powerful!

Stephenie Meyer's sci-fi version of Twilight made a weak $11, placing it at #6 in the box office top ten!

And despite her critically-panned performance, Kim Kardashian seemed to do just fine in the numbers with her appearance in Tyler Perry's Temptation, which came in third and made $22.3 million!

But check out the full list of the weekend's top moviesAFTER THE JUMP!!!

It Was A Very Crood Box Office Weekend…Just Not For Lindsay Lohan!

box office weekend

Sorry, James Franco!

While Oz The Great and Powerful is still pulling in all kinds of big box office bucks, its reign in the number one spot has come to an end!

But don't worry, your new flick with Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens, Spring Breakers, isn't doing too shabby in its opening weekend!

More shabby than two surprise cinematic hits, however:

The animated Croods AND Gerard Butler's Olympus Has Fallen, which came in first and second place in their box office debut, pulled in $44.7 and $30.5 million, respectively!

The aforementioned Breakers, meanwhile, made $5 million playing in about 1,100 theaters, which secured it the #6 spot in the top ten!

Pretty solid, unlike Lindsay Lohan's new disaster of a movie, InAPPropriate Comedy, which co-stars Adrien Brody and Michelle Rodriguez, opened to just 292 theaters yet still only managed to pull in $155,000!

Eek! We bet she's making more on her boozy trip to Brazil this week ALONE!

But enough about her!

Spring Breakers Is Already Raunchy Box Office Gold!

spring breakers gif 8

Oz The Great and Powerful might've earned the most box office money this weekend, but Spring Breakers was the REAL winner.

The naughty flick — starring tween idols Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, and Ashley Benson — was only presented on 3 screens nationwide, but it made a WHOPPING $270,000.

With a theater average of $90,000, that is 8 times more than Oz made this weekend per theater.

DAYYYUMMM!

Looks like this indie will be skipping past cult status to become a universally massive success.

We have to thank Disney Channel for giving us Spring Breaker's bikini-clad, gun toting stars! We don't know if they could've done it without you! LOLz.

Spring break forever!!!!
