It all started with the Big Bang!
Well as least that's what some future students will be saying about their college education. The television show The Big Bang Theory isn't just celebrating the sciences on their show, they're creating a scholarship for UCLA!
The Big Bang Theory Scholarship Endowment will go towards supporting undergraduates who decide to major in science, engineering, mathematics or technology.
They have over $4 million donated so far that will help 20 selected kids receive their education. The chosen students will be given various size grants based on their financial need as well as academic merit and five more UCLA students will be added to the scholarship every year!
The scholarship is funded by Chuck Lorre, the co-creator and executive producer of The Big Bang Theory, as well as about 50 other people including some of the stars of the show, Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch.
Lorre talked about why they decided to do this by saying:
