ICYMI: Over 200 Musicians — Including Jennifer Hudson, R. Kelly, & Weezer — Defend Pharrell Against 'Dangerous' Blurred Lines Verdict!

no title

Last week, it was reported that Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke clapped back hard at that Blurred Lines lawsuit — appealing the verdict that they committed copyright infringement against Marvin Gaye's Got to Give It Up.

Throughout the drawn out court battle, the singers expressed the sentiment that paying homage to an earlier era and making a song reminiscent of a sound shouldn't fall under copyright infringement.

And it looks like a TON of musicians agree — because 212 artists, composers, and producers have filed a brief with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in support of the bid by Williams, Thicke, and T.I. to overturn the decision.

Musicians from all corners of the industry have banded together to support the appeal, claiming that the Blurred Lines creators deserve victory on grounds that the court's ruling will set a precedent that will "stifle creativity" and "impede the creative process."

Among those who threw their names in the ring are the members of Train, Linkin Park, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Black Crowes, Fall Out Boy, as well as Weezer's Rivers Cuomo, Hall & Oates' John Oates, R. Kelly, Hans Zimmer, Jennifer Hudson, Jean Baptiste, Evan Bogart and Brian Burton (Danger Mouse).

The artist's brief, penned by entertainment attorney Ed McPherson, states:

On Friday, the We R Who We R singer also dropped her abuse allegations in her New York case as well.

In court, she told the judge that she is no longer relying on abuse claims in order get out of her contract with Luke's label, Kemosabe Records.

For the past couple of months, the Los Angeles musician has tried to appeal an April ruling where the court rejected all of her claims against the music maker.

Aside from the lawsuit, Kesha wants to get her music career on track, and has already sent 28 songs to her label.

We are eagerly awaiting her comeback.

As we reported, on Friday, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp's legal teams met in court to determine whether a permanent restraining order should be placed on the actor. In addition, the actress' lawyer tried to push their June 17 court hearing back even further, which Depp's lawyer — Laura Wasser — argued would further damage her client's career.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, Persky has faced a significant backlash from potential jurors this week after he sentenced Turner to just six months in prison — despite the former Stanford University swimmer being convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman behind a dumpster outside a frat party last January.

Earlier this week, former Stanford student Brock Turner was convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman, and people are outraged over his light sentence to spend mere six months in jail.

Turner's rape trial has garnered national attention for perfectly illustrating white privilege and victim blaming, and even those who once supported Turner are now realizing that he is definitely not the victim in the situation.

Kelly Owens, Brock's former high school guidance counselor, praised the swimmer in a letter to Judge Aaron Persky during the case — nothing that he was an "exceptional student" and "a young man of character" who was "absolutely undeserving of the outcome."

Now, after learning of Turner's laughable sentencing (and the public's reaction to it), Owens regrets supporting the 20-year-old sex offender.

On Wednesday, she issued an apology to her school district and Oakwood High School, writing:
