A three-year-old girl who was born without fingers or feet received a very special surprise Tuesday afternoon — a puppy who's just like her!
Sapphyre Johnson has been a patient at the Shriner's Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina since she was only three months old due to her birth defect.
The little girl's father saw the paw-less puppy as a great opportunity and companion for his daughter.
Matthew Johnson said:
"A lot of kids don't see other children or animals that have issues like they have. This was a really nice thing and a really good thing for Sapphyre."
This whole situation happened when local breeder Karen Riddle decided to contact the hospital to ask if anyone would want a white German Shepard puppy who was born with only three paws.
Once hospital employee Elaine Hardin got the message, she reportedly went out to find this special pup the perfect owner.
Elaine told GreenvilleOnline when she showed Sapphyre a picture of the puppy, she responded:
