After the events in Charlottesville, furor has never been higher to finally get rid of statues around the country commemorating those who fought for the Confederacy.

(And racists like Donald Trump have never been more vocal about defending them.)

Department Of Justice Drops Federal Lawsuit Against North Carolina Over Anti-LGBT Bathroom Bill!

no title

Donald Trump's administration is letting North Carolina take a huge piss on progress.

On Friday, the Department of Justice said it was dropping the lawsuit it filed last year over the state's controversial "bathroom bill" — which restricted transgender people's use of public bathrooms.

The Obama administration previously alleged the Tar Heel state violated the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which bans discrimination based on sex, and argued the federal rights law also applied to trans discrimination.

Well, the Trump administration sees the issue differently — or more accurately, not worth their precious golf-playing, bomb-deploying time.

Justice Department officials said they were bowing out of the lawsuit because NC legislators recently repealed a portion of the law that clearly banned many trans people from using restrooms that match their gender identity in government facilities.

But while one part of the law, known as HB2, was repealed, state legislators kept another portion intact and added a new measure — and the final product still leaves plenty of room for LGBT discrimination.

North Carolina Lawmaker Actually Compares Abraham Lincoln To Hitler! The Fuck?

You might be wondering why North Carolina insists on devolving with its legislation while the rest of the country is focusing on other catastrophes looming ahead.

Well, here's a glimpse at the types of lawmakers running the state that's STILL trying to ban same-sex marriage!

A North Carolina legislator has landed in hot water after comparing Abraham Lincoln to — we shit you not — Adolf Hitler in a Facebook comment.

Larry Pittman, a representative in the North Carolina General Assembly, said Honest Abe was the "same sort of tyrant as" the Nazi leader, who enslaved and killed millions of Jews and — yes, Sean Spicer, even used chemical weapons.

Pittman's ridiculous claims came in response to Facebook comments criticizing him for introducing a bill that would render the Supreme Court's decision in legalizing same-sex marriage inapplicable in his state.

One user pointed out that those who "don't respect the Supreme Court and the Constitution" shouldn't be in public office, to which Pittman replied:

North Carolina Lawmakers Are Actually Attempting To Ban Same-Sex Marriage!!

UGH.

It's only been two weeks since North Carolina "repealed" its extremely controversial HB2 "bathroom bill" — but the Tar Heel state is making headlines once again as Republican lawmakers have now introduced House Bill 780 which seeks to invalidate same-sex marriages.

The "Uphold Historical Marriage Act" reads:

"Marriages, whether created by common law, contracted, or performed outside of North Carolina, between individuals of the same gender are not valid in North Carolina."

Excuse us, WHAT?

Thankfully, North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore released a statement on Wednesday saying lawmakers in Washington would NOT hear the bill as it is a direct aim at the Supreme Court's ruling on same-sex marriage from two years ago.

According to the Washington Post, Moore said:

The So-Called Repeal Of North Carolina's 'Bathroom Bill' Is Bullshit!

Filed under: Icky Icky PooPolitikTwitterTransgenderLGBTSocial Issues

North Carolina's repeal is bullshit!

North Carolina simply cannot get its shit together!

Legislators were set to vote Thursday on the repeal of House Bill 2 (HB2), also known as the "Bathroom Bill," a bill that prohibits transgender people from using the bathroom that best adheres with their gender identities.

As a "compromise," legislators offered a new version of the year-old law that is ostensibly a repeal of HB2, but actually continues to ban local municipalities and schools from regulating bathroom access. It also prevents cities from offering their own job and bathroom protections until 2020.

It's not a real repeal! And still discriminates against LGBTQ people!

The NCAA has vowed to keep the state from any hosting duties until 2022, potentially costing it BILLIONS of dollars in revenue. It's also one of the reasons legislators are now scrambling to repair the damage. Too bad they just can't bring themselves to actually repeal the dumb and discriminatory law in the first place!

Plenty of celebs and LGBT activists decried the so-called compromise on Twitter:

Money talks…

After estimates came out that the state of North Carolina would be losing out on an insane $3.76 billion from the loss of business because of their LGBT-unfriendly law, it looks like HB2 may finally be history!

In a press conference on Tuesday evening — just hours after the NCAA gave the state an ultimatum about sporting events through 2022 — Senate Leader Phil Berger and House Speaker Tim Moore revealed the General Assembly had agreed to a repeal of House Bill 2, aka the "Bathroom Bill!"

The Republicans said new Governor Roy Cooper offered up a proposal that will make the following changes:
