Broadway Sensation Patti LuPone Takes Away An Audience Member's Phone Mid-Show Because They Were Texting During Shows For Days!

UPDATE 6:07 PM EST: Patti issued a statement about why she snatched the texter's phone, saying:

"We work hard on stage to create a world that is being totally destroyed by a few, rude, self-absorbed and inconsiderate audience members who are controlled by their phones. They cannot put them down. When a phone goes off or when a LED screen can be seen in the dark it ruins the experience for everyone else – the majority of the audience at that performance and the actors on stage. I am so defeated by this issue that I seriously question whether I want to work on stage anymore. Now I'm putting battle gear on over my costume to marshal the audience as well as perform."

In case you forgot that you shouldn't be texting during a broadway show, Patti LuPone is here to remind you!

On Wednesday, the Tony winner put a stop to a persistant texter during the evening performance of her play Shows for Days at the Lincoln Center!

Darren Criss Apologizes For The 'Severity' Of His Caitlyn Jenner Remark During A Recent Hedwig Performance!

darren criss apologizes to caitlyn jenner

UPDATE 2:26 PM EST: To add some clarity to the matter, let's talk about context. The context of the line during the show is of Hedwig describing her perfume line she has — that the perfume is for everyone. The 'whatever you are' piece, she actually points to someone in the audience. That is where the confusion is and it is hard to decipher based off that tweet.

On Friday, Darren Criss formally apologized to Caitlyn Jenner on Facebook after he joked about the reality star's transition during a performance this week of Broadway's Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

One attendee noted on Twitter:

"Tonight, Darren Criss, as HEDWIG said, 'man, woman, moman, wan, Bruce Jenner, whatever you are' and it was very distasteful."

Though his comments were made while playing the character Hedwig — the 28-year-old's since been accused of being transphobic.

This backlash has since inspired the Glee actor to comment on the remark.

Bad news on Broadway!

After getting no love at the Tonys this year, it's been announced that the revival of Gigi will give its final performance on June 21!

Originally adapted for the stage in 1951 starring an unknown Audrey Hepburn, the musical is based on the 1944 novel by Colette about a free-spirited girl in Paris who falls in love with a wealthy playboy.

But don't worry, a national tour is in works for the revival in the 2016-17 season! Yayyy!

It was also announced that Broadway musical The Visit has a set closing date for June 14!

The dark musical by the Chicago songwriting team of Kander and Ebb was nominated for five Tonys, but walked away empty handed!

It's always sad to see a show close, but as they say — that's show business!
