Against Me! is one of the most popular bands in punk rock, and they just so happen to have a transgender woman as their lead singer.

While that fact doesn't usually factor in when they're deciding on tour dates, the current anti-transgender attitude in North Carolina forced Laura Jane Grace to actively think about performing in the state.

Most LGBT-friendly musicians have cancelled their NC concerts due to Gov. Pat McCrory's bigoted bathroom bill, but Laura actually went the opposite route when deciding what was best for her trans fans.

The 35-year-old singer has been an out transwoman for four years now, so instead of backing out of her show, Against Me! took to the stage in Durham on May 15 where Laura burned her birth certificate onstage!

Now, two weeks later, the trans activist spoke to Vulture about her controversial decision, saying:

Whoopi Goldberg Is Producing A Reality TV Show About Transgender Models!

Whoopi Goldberg is bringing a new reality show to Oxygen, and it's all about transgender models.

The View panelist has revealed that she will serve as an executive producer on a new series about Slay Model Management, the first business to strike deals exclusively with transgender individuals.

The show, titled Strut, follows a group of the agency's talent who dream of becoming household names.

The 60-year-old explained why she feels the project will be an important addition to Oxygen's programming, saying in a statement:

"This show is important right now, because for all of the positive advances the community has made and continues to make, transgender is still a hot-button word that gets people hysterical. People tend to focus on the stereotype instead of the person, and this series will give viewers a unique opportunity to spend time with real people who are struggling with the same challenges we all face as we make our way through the world."

The series' stars hope to one day change the way society perceives beauty and gender.

Miz Goldberg also added that she wants to make people realize they should be more accepting of the transgender community, exclaiming:

The Lumineers have officially taken a stance on the transgender bathroom debate in North Carolina!

According to the band, they'll offer gender-neutral bathrooms at their upcoming concert in North Carolina on September. The group will also donate all the proceeds of their show to charity.

The move is a big contrast to other groups that have cancelled shows in the state in opposition to the HB2 law which outlines what bathroom transgender people can use in public.

Dave Matthews Band Will Not Cancel North Carolina Shows — Find Out The Charitable Reason!

While most of Hollywood has pulled out of performing in North Carolina due to the state's controversial anti-transgender bathroom laws, one iconic group has a different idea.

Dave Matthews Band announced on Monday that they will be keeping a concert at PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte on May 27 as scheduled, but will be donating a portion of the proceeds to local charities.

Ben & Jerry's Announce New Flavor To Fight North Carolina Voter Suppression!

There's no doubt North Carolina has been a VERY controversial place lately, between the House 2 Bill and the recent voting law dilemmas.

And Ben & Jerry's have decided to do something about it!

Founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, who were arrested last month while protesting money's role in politics, have created an ice cream flavor to help support their fight!

The new flavor is appropriately titled "Empower Mint" and is a peppermint ice cream with fudge brownies and fudge swirls.
