Find Out Why The LGBT Community Supports Barack Obama

Tears! Tears! Tears!

Our eyes are welling up because this is such a wonderful message from Barack Obama's LGBT supporters.

Watch Jane Lynch, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Billie Jean King, George Takei, Wanda Sykes, Zachary Quinto, and Chaz Bono share their personal stories (above) about how the President's stance on equality has affected their lives.

What an amazing reminder of how FAR gay rights in this country have come!

Don't ask, don't tell is gone. Government employees share benefits with their same-sex partners. Same-sex couples now have hospital visitation rights. But perhaps MOST important was the president's historical declaration that he supports same-sex marriage!

He's the first Commander in Chief to do so and we sincerely hope he's not the last.

Oprah Reveals Racist Backlash After She Guest Spot On Ellen's 'Coming Out' Episode

Ellen DeGeneres has established a $50 million empire over the years, but her rise to the top of daytime television didn't happen over night.

In fact, it probably wouldn't have happened had the comedian decided against coming out to the public on a 1997 episode of her hit sitcom. Just ask Oprah Winfrey, who recently told sources:

"Being able to be free — literally — and to express herself in a way that she can be 100 percent truthful with the audience has allowed them to fall in love with her. Honest-to-God truth: I don't believe she would have been as successful as she has become had she not come out."

The talk show host's success did not come without sacrifice though. Her career crumbled after the controversial episode aired and put Ellen on a downward spiral. She couldn't find work for three years and almost went broke in the process, but she wasn't the only one receiving excessive backlash.

Oprah appeared on the program as Ellen's therapist to whom the sitcom star revealed her sexual orientation and says she received hateful letters as a result. So hateful, in fact, that she was called the N-word by some, as she explained:

Aww! Such an AMAZING moment between a mother and son!

Chaz Bono was honored with the Stephen F. Kolzak Award at the GLAAD Media Awards and who better to present it to him than his mother Cher!

The annual award honors those who have dedicated their life in the media to fighting homophobia. Chaz is the 21sh recipient since it was first given to the Hollywood casting director for whom it is named after.

Other out and proud members of the LGBT community to receive the lifetime achievement include Ellen DeGeneres, Melissa Etheridge, John Waters, and Wanda Sykes.

Watch the video (above) to hear Cher has to say about her son's decision to transition and, more importantly, her own transition into fully accepting his decision!

Wanda Sykes Reveals Her Bilateral Mastectomy On Ellen

Wanda Sykes

During a rare serious interview on to air on Monday's episode of Ellen, comedian Wanda Sykes reveals her breast cancer scare that lead to a bilateral mastectomy.

Initially, doctors discovered signs of cancer in her left breast while she was preparing to have cosmetic surgery to reduce their size, as she started off:

"This was in February. I went for the reduction. I had real big boobs and I just got tired of knocking over stuff. Every time I eat … Oh lord. I’d carry a Tide stick everywhere I go," she quips. "My back was sore so it was time to have a reduction. It wasn't until after the reduction that in the lab work, the pathology, that they found that I had DCIS [ductal carcinoma in situ] in my left breast. I was very, very lucky because DCIS is basically stage-zero cancer. So I was very lucky."

Even though doctors caught the cancer early, Wanda was still preparing for the worst, continuing to say:

"But cancer is cancer. I had the choice of, you can go back every three months and get it checked. Have a mammogram, MRI every three months just to see what it's doing. But, I'm not good at keeping on top of stuff. I'm sure I’m overdue for an oil change and a teeth cleaning already."

Fearing her inability to maintain regular check ups and "a lot of breast cancer history" in her family, she came to the decision to remove both breasts. "Now I have zero chance of having breast cancer," she told Ellen DeGeneres.

She explained her reasoning, saying:

"It sounds scary up front, but what do you want? Do you want to wait and not be as fortunate when it comes back and it’s too late?"

Even though the procedure was performed several months ago, Wanda admits she wasn't sure if she should even be talking about it and comically explains:

"I was like, I don't know, should I talk about it or what? How many things could I have? I'm Black, then Lesbian. I can't be the poster child for everything. At least with the LGBT issues we get a parade, we get a float, it's a party. [But] I was real hesitant about doing this, because I hate walking. I got a lot of [cancer] walks coming up."

"I just admire the hell out of you," Ellen said to her guest and we can't help but agree!

So glad you're safe and sound, Wanda! We're looking forward to you making us laugh for years and years to come!

Cheyenne Jackson And Wanda Sykes Respond To Tracy Morgan's Anti-Gay Tirade!

cheyenne-jackson-and-wanda-sykes-respond-to-tracy-morgans-anti-gay-tirade

And they make Tina Fey look as though she went easy on him!

Tracy Morgan's 30 Rock co-star, Cheyenne Jackson, and his Rio co-star, Wanda Sykes, have lashed out out at the actor's HOrrific, unacceptable comments against the LGBT community during a stand-up set in Nashville earlier in the month, and as homosexuals themselves, they are understandably not too pleased with his shocking displays of ignorance and hatred!

Jackson says in a statement:

"I am disgusted and appalled by Tracy Morgan's homophobic rant. The devastating repercussions of hate-filled language manifest in very real ways for today's LGBTQ youth. I've known Tracy for two years, spent many long hours with him on set, and I want to believe that this behavior is not at the core of who he is. I'm incredibly disappointed by his actions, and hope that his apology is sincere."

Meanwhile, Sykes took to her Twitter to discuss the situation, and writes:

Hey, just back from family road trip. Ok, Tracy Morgan. Good thing I was busy because it would have been ugly, name calling. Pt. 1

Had time to think. Tracy is just a dumb comic. I fault the TN lawmakers. They've created an anti-gay environment. Pt2

Don't believe Tracy would be so ignorant in LA, because we have a mayor, a city council, and police chief who believes we are all equal. Pt3

I do believe in free speech, but for a youth in TN or any other numerous place, Tracy just yelled, "Fire," in a crowded theater.

Ok, piss'd reading, "I don't want 2 live n a world where Tracy can't say…" I Do! U Keep the world, just break me off an evolved country.

Tracy has the right to say whatever he wants to say, just like we have the right to say, not acceptable. WE as a country. We used to picnic to watch public hangings, but WE figured out, that was some sick shit. No, society does effect the comedy stage, that's why you don't see anymore white comics in blackface. And it's up to us if we laugh or walk out. This isn't about comedy. What Tracy said is dangerous. We r just trying to protect our kids. Peace and love!

Personally, we think the only person that is responsible for Tracy Morgan's behavior is Tracy Morgan, and we sincerely hope that he's taken all of these comments into consideration LONG and HARD.

We're so glad so many are speaking up and are not TOLERATING this!

Wanda is right, this is NOT about comedy - it's DANGEROUS, and WRONG, and nobody should have to be subjected to that kind of hatred!

What do U think?? Do U agree with Cheyenne and/or Wanda??
