Forget Broadway! The best live theatre can be found on TV!

On Wednesday, NBC announced it will produce a live version of Aaron Sorkin's critically acclaimed play A Few Good Men! This is the network's first live drama.

The West Wing creator will collaborate with Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who produced The Sound of Music Live, Peter Pan Live, and The Wiz Live.

According to NBC Chairmen Robert Greenblatt:

"I am thrilled that Aaron Sorkin is coming back to NBC to adapt and produce a live broadcast of his electrifying play 'A Few Good Men,' which seems as timely as ever today… Aaron is one of the most acclaimed theater, television and film authors of our time, and I am pleased that the live event business that we pioneered with musicals is now expanding into other genres and attracting artists of his caliber. I look forward to his collaboration with our 'A-team' producers, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, to bring another exciting piece of live drama to a broad audience."

Set in 1986, the play centers on military lawyer Lt. Daniel Kaffee who must defend three Marines on trial for murder.

Tom Cruise Grilled By Lawyers For HOURS After Alleged Illegal Wiretapping!

tom-cruise-deposed-hours-lawsuit-illegal-recordings-lawyers-michael-david-sapir wiretapping

Aww!! This isn't how Tom Cruise hoped to spend his last day on earth!!!

As the angry Mayan gods prepare to smite us all into oblivion, the star of The Firm and A Few Good Men spent several hours in a super-secret NYC legal deposition!

If you remember, Tommy boy is being sued for supposedly conspiring with his lawyer and P.I. to unlawfully record telephone conversations over a decade ago.

He has maintained his innocence since the initial accusations, but how would he fare during a legal interrogation?

Did Tom crack? Did he admit to ordering the Code Red?

Who knows?! The whole thing was totally hush-hush.

But one source shared:

The Social Network's Aaron Sorkin Writing Prestige Houdini Musical For Hugh Jackman

aaron sorkin teams up with hugh jackman for houdini play

Between Aaron Sorkin's The Social Network and Hugh Jackman's EVERYTHING except Australia, we are going into this very optimistically!

Sorkin is writing the book for a Broadway play about Harry Houdini, with Jackman set to star as the legendary magician.

…But it gets better! The score is being composed by Danny Elfman!!!

Sorkin's previous Broadway playwriting experience includes A Few Good Men, before it was adapted into a film starring Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise.

He also wrote The Farnsworth Invention, which ran from late 2007 to early 2008.

Here's what Elfman had to say about Sorkin's progress on the play, which may hit stages as early as the beginning of 2012:

“He’s writing away. We all have high hopes that Aaron’s going to come through and do some good stuff.”

We're def excited about this one! Between Jackman's acting abilities and incredible good looks, and Sorkin's phenomenal writing abilities, we're thinking this could be pretty amazing!

Are U excited about the prospect of Hugh playing Houdini on Broadway?
