On Sunday, the gorgeous gal took home the Oscar for Best Actress for her incredible role in Room! This was the first time the lovely lady has ever been nominated for an Academy Award, so that makes this win super special!

The 26-year-old was up against some stiff competition, ultimately beating out Cate Blanchett (Carol), Jennifer Lawrence (Joy), Charlotte Rampling (45 Years), and Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn).

We thought it was just adorable how the actress could hardly contain her excitement, but maybe even more adorable were the cutaway shots to Jacob Tremblay's sweet, supportive reactions!

The director is no stranger to the Oscars, of course, but this time around his speech added a little fire about #OscarsSoWhite — and a special message for Leonardo DiCaprio!

The director edged out quite the group of competitors: Adam McKay (The Big Short), George Miller (Mad Max: Fury Road), Lenny Abrahamson (Room), and Tom McCarthy (Spotlight).

Ch-ch-check it out (above) as Iñárritu totally ignored the play-off music to deliver a very important point about diversity in film!!

In Smith's acceptance speech, he seemed completely ASTONISHED and so excited to win the coveted award. Despite being floored to walk away with the honor, Sam managed to declare his LGBT pride, gushing that he was proud to be an out and gay man.

While many fans were happy to see S.S. win the award, some people felt Diane Warren should have won for her Til' It Happens To You collaboration with Lady GaGa. The famed song writer has been nominated an INSANE amount of times for this category before, after all.

The superstar singer took on the topic of rape and sexual assault with a nod to the documentary which gave her song such power, and she delivered a very emotional performance backed by a group of rape and sexual assault survivors marked with different statements and words of power.

All of it added up to emotion — so strong, so meaningful.

Ch-ch-check it all out (above) — now that is a strong live performance!

See Who Made The Montage & Who Got Snubbed During The 2016 Oscars In Memoriam Segment — Plus Dave Grohl's Beautiful Performance

While the Oscars were filled with hilarious jokes and goofy skits, the ceremony got serious when it came time to remember the stars we lost over the past year.

During the In Memoriam segment, the Academy celebrated the lives of filmmakers, actors, and other notable names in Hollywood who passed away since the 2015 awards show.

The montage remembered stars like David Bowie, Alan Rickman, and Leonard Nimoy, while Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl sang a beautiful rendition of Paul McCartney's Blackbird.

Unfortunately, it appears as though The Godfather alum Abe Vigoda and Rocky actor Tony Burton were both left out of the segment.

Take a look (above).
