From Broadway To The Big Screen! Constantine Maroulis Lands Cameo In Rock Of Ages

constantine maroulis to cameo in rock of ages

Nice to see them bringing him back for the movie version, even if it's only in a cameo.

American Idol alum Constantine Maroulis, who starred in the Broadway version of Rock of Ages, will be filming a small role for director Adam Shankman's movie adaptation of the stage musical.

We're sure Constantine would have probably loved to reprise his role as Drew Boley, but

Exclusive! Tom Cruise Shocks Rock Of Ages Cast By Coming To Table-Read Dressed As Bret Michaels In Character!

tom-cruise-rock-of-ages-table-read-in-character

What we wouldn't have given to be a fly on the wall for THIS!

As we've reported, the entire cast for the movie version of the Broadway musical Rock of Ages gathered in Miami today to do a read-through of the script with director Adam Shankman before production officially kicks off!

As Catherine Zeta-Jones was the only hold-out - due to her commitment to another project - sources present have told PerezHilton.com EXCLUSIVELY that Gloria Estefan filled in for her as the Mayor's wife.

But that wasn't the only surprise!

Even though it was only a read-through and no one else was costumed, Tom Cruise, who will be playing rock star Stacee Jaxx, arrived DRESSED IN CHARACTER in full-on rocker regalia!

We're told that it was a heavy metal grunge look, but Tom just basically looked like the spitting image of Bret Michaels!

A-EFFING-MAZING! Oh maaaaaan!

Leave it to him to act like a crazy person go full-on method!

Atta' boy! We cannot WAIT to see his new 'look' for ourself! Ha!

Alec Baldwin Showed Up At The Rock Of Ages Run-Through After All!

alec-baldwin-decision-regarding-rock-of-ages-run-through.jpg

So…what does this mean???

Yesterday, we reported that Alec Baldwin called in to the heads of New Line this week to request that he be replaced on the film Rock Of Ages. The only explanation we got as to "why" was that he was suffering from medical condition that he thought would prevent him from performing in such a rigorous production.

However, this morning the entire cast gathered in Miami to have an official first run-through for the film and apparently, Alec was on hand. Sources are reporting that director Adam Shankman implored him to make the trip, just so he could see that kind of production he would be missing out on if her dropped out. The cast, which includes Tom Cruise, Russell Brand, Mary J. Blige, Paul Giamatti and Julianne Hough (Catherine Zeta-Jones was absent but only because she is off shooting another movie) all tried on costumes and belted out the show's score for the first time as a collective group.

Umph! Let's hope Tommy has really perfected his solo on Renegade. If its off, that sure as hell would send us running for the hills!

Hopefully, Alec will make a decision by the end of today and we'll know for sure what his deal is. Considering that the movie is set to start production in two weeks, he's really leaving them in the lurch by cutting out now, but if he can't handle it it physically, then he shouldn't push himself.

Alec Baldwin Wants Out Of Rock Of Ages Movie

alec-baldwin-out-of-rock-of-ages-medical-leave.jpg

We're not sure why, but it might actually be something serious.

As the entire cast of Adam Shankman's film adaptation of Rock of Ages has finally been assembled, the director has invited the whole gang to Miami in two weeks to have their first table read before the film starts shooting. Everyone's going to be there - Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand - but according to reports, someone who might not be on hand is Alec Baldwin. Apparently, last night, he called the studio to ask if he could be pulled from the movie completely.

Yesterday afternoon, New Line studio head Toby Emmerich denied rumors that Alec was being replaced and insisted that he was committed to the movie. He did however reveal that Alec confessed to having a newly discovered medical condition that he expected to resolve itself by the time shooting starts this summer.

But a few short hours later, Alec apparently called Toby and asked the studio to replace him "if at all possible." Whatever this medical condition is that he has, we presume he thinks it's serious enough to keep him from giving it his all in the role of Dennis Dupree. Now, the studio is scrambling to either find a replacement for Alec on such short notice or find a way to work around Alec's ailment.

Depending on what's his problem, maybe it would be worth it for everyone just to replace him. It might set you guys back, but who knows what kind of issues you'll encounter if you keep him on and he constantly has to pull out of shooting days or is too weak to work, etc. Don't get us wrong - we honestly hope Alec's health isn't in serious danger - but this movie is a business with a lot of lives and a lot of money at stake. The studio should do right by them as well as Alec.

Catherine Zeta Jones Joins Cast Of Rock of Ages

catherine-zeta-jones-joins-rock-of-ages.jpg

Finally! Adam Shankman has got his gal!

After losing both Anne Hathaway and Amy Adams to superhero flicks, the team behind Rock of Ages has finally got a leading lady for their musical-to-film adaptation.

Catherine Zeta Jones is confirmed to be starring in the movie, alongside Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Mary J. Blige, Paul Giamatti and Julianne Hough.

The last time she did a musical, CZJ got herself an Oscar! How's about she goes two-for-two!

Rock Of Ages Officially Welcomes Russell Brand In - But Amy Adams Is Out!

russell-brand-rock-of-ages-cast.jpg

Damn! Adam Shankman just can't get a girl to agree to sleep with Tom Cruise in a filthy bathroom!

The cast of Adam's stage-to-film musical, Rock of Ages, is shaping up rather nicely. Today, he announced via his Twitter that Russell Brand has officially signed on to play Lonny, the show's narrator, alongside Tom in the lead role of Stacee Jaxx.

However, sadly, Adam has lost another actress who was poised to play the reporter who interviews (and then sleeps with) Tom's character during a rousing rendition of Wanted Dead Or Alive. Adam first went after Anne Hathaway, but she had to turn the role down because she's playing Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rising. Then, he decided to ask Amy Adams if she wanted in, but word is she just turned him down to so she could play Lois Lane in the new Superman flick, Man of Steel.

Strike two! Tough break, Shankman!

Just a heads up - Scarlett Johansson isn't available either. Neither is Blake Lively or Emma Stone. So, cross them from the list!
