How many times have you woken up and decided you are going to suddenly become a runner? Try to set more realistic goals for yourself. There’s no point jumping off the block and killing yourself first session out, making sure you give up before you’ve even started.

Instead, focus on running a little, or a little more than you did before — that way you build up your strength, stamina and all round fitness so you can continue to improve week by week.

Fresh Start Monday: HYDRATE!

Hydration Hydration Hydration! This is the theme for this week. Grab an eco water bottle that filters the water as you drink it, which means you can fill up anywhere making sure you will never run out. Buy a few (they cost around $10 each) and put one in your hand bag, gym bag and car.

Put little sticky notes up in places you will notice it often or even better a put a reminder in your phone to DRINK UP! Water helps flush toxins from your body, fills you up and aids in weight loss. You need to drink around 8 glasses a day so here’s cheers!!!!

Work Out Wednesday: Buddy System!

Get a workout buddy!

You are more likely to turn up if you are accountable so either grab a friend and book in at east three sessions a week of walking, running or yoga sessions you will meet up at.

If you don’t know anyone, then try online meet-up groups – there are plenty of group hikes or soccer and beach volleyball games going on most days of the week and all you have to do is join up (it’s free), say you will be there and turn up. Not only will you have a great fun group workout but you will make more fun fit friends ensuring you won’t ever have to exercise alone again.

Fresh Start Monday: Try Something New!

Fresh Start Monday (#FSM) is a great time to sign up for a 7 day trial to something new!

Why not try Bikram, Krav Maga or a gym that is closer to your work or home. Most places will give you a few free passes or a great 7-day try it before you buy it deal. Then you can see if something new might just be something you love!

Work Out Wednesday: Home Gym!

Did somebody say Home Gym?!

Yes, it’s a viable option. You don’t need a lot. Some hand weights, resistance bands, a yoga mat, a few different workout dvds and you are ready to go — or do your own PT sessions with 5 x 100 punches, with sets of 50 sit ups, push ups, star jumps, burpees, squats, lunges and tricep dips in between each boxing set and that should be a pretty good workout for FREE, my favorite word!

Fresh Start Monday: 5 Salads

Rather than stress about all the meals you are going to or “should” eat this week, why not focus on something smaller like 5 salads in 5 days?

Cook an extra serving of protein the night before and throw it into a salad you can take to work OR pre order a salad for lunch and have it delivered. Order and pay for it early in the day so that you don’t have to stress about what to eat when you are already hungry and craving the not so healthy options.

That’s my plan for the week. Five salads in five days.

Fresh Start Monday: Fresh Food

Fresh Start Monday (#FSM) means that this week you are committing to replace one processed item with fresh food, fruit and vegetables every day.

Take that muesli bar and munch on an orange instead. Ditch the cookies and have some delicious carrots with hummus. Throw the diet soda away and treat yourself to a beautiful chilled bottle of water that refreshes like nothing else.

If you make just one change a day you will go a long way to having a great week that will reflect positive changes on the scale!
