Over the summer, we told you how animal trainer Bill Berloni chose Sunny, a dog with 48 hours to live, to be Annie's best pal Sandy, in this fall's revival of Annie.

Now, The Today Show's Al Roker has gone behind the scenes to detail how Sunny got the job!

In the vid (above), Al follows Berloni as he is tasked to find the perfect Sandy.

Al Roker, being the great guy that he is, recently adopted a rescue puppy!!

Al is probably a big dog kinda guy because he seems to find it funny he's now the owner of a tiny 10-week-old female pup named Pepper!

On a recent flight, in first class, Al Roker refused to swap seats with Stine Schyberg, the wife of Van Halen's Alex Van Halen so the couple could sit together.

He refused to switch seats because that would have brought him one seat closer to a small dog in a crate that was a row behind and three seats over.

Because he said he's allergic to dogs.

Now it seems some are questioning the truth of that statement.

This is due to the fact that he pitched an idea for a dog reality show back in 2005.
