Eva Longoria, Zoe Saldana and Olivia Wilde are all turning director for Glamour magazine's Reel Moments project.
For the project, each actress got behind the camera to tell the story of a real Glamour reader.
Eva's short film is about Alex, a 35 year old who gets a double mastectomy. The Desperate Housewife explains:
"First of all, it was a surprisingly humorous story for such a serious topic. It also demonstrated the camaraderie and close friendship of a group of women who are trying to help their friend give her boobs a proper send-off before her double mastectomy. And it had a great story arc. These are short films, and you need to be able to tell a story in less than 20 minutes."
Zoe's short focuses on Kaylien, a school girl who is autistic and feels like an alien. Saldana was inspired by the story after her 7 year old niece was bullied and thought "shedding light" on that was important.
Saldana also cast some big names in the 20 minute flick: her The Words co-star Bradley Cooper and Malin Ackerman.
As for Olivia, she's using the experience to make herself a better actress. She said:
"I’ve always kind of mourned the small number of female directors in this business and I kind of complain about it a lot without doing anything. So instead of whining about there being a lack of female directors, why don’t I become one and create my own story."
All three of the films are set to premiere on October 24th at the Directors Guild of America Theater here in El Lay.
