Brendan Fraser Rachel Weisz The Mummy Reboot Not Dark Enough

Screenwriter Alex Kurtzman has a few entrees on his plate but thankfully doesn't mind speaking with his mouth full!!

Apparently, the studios who asked Kurtzman and his writing partner Robert Orci to draft scripts for reboots of The Mummy and Van Helsing, want them to dig deep and channel their inner darkness!

Yowzers!! Tom Cruise just won't quit jumping on couches!

He’s in the market for new Maverick aviators!

He’s starring in Rock of Ages AND singing on the soundtrack!!

And now he’s raising the stakes by attaching himself to play everyone's famous vampire hunter not named Buffy… Dr. Abraham Van Helsing!

(Didn't Wolverine Hugh Jackman just do the same movie a few years ago?? Hmm.)

According to Universal, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will pen the

The amazing spider-man new writers

We think The Amazing Spider-Man is looking pret-ty fantastic from the previews, but apparently Sony did not think the writer behind the film could handle a sequel.

The studio has hired Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who wrote the last Star Trek and two Transformers movies, to rewrite James Vanderbilt's screenplay for the next installment of the rebooted franchise.

Both are as excited to write it as we are excited to watch it, as the duo said in a statement:

Star Trek 2 Writer Spills Some Deets On The Sequel!

star-trek-2-writer-talks-about-writing-the-film-outline

Relax, Trekkies! The sequel is on its way!

While J.J. Abrams is hard at work on his new flick, Super 8, the development of Star Trek 2 is well underway, and the script's co-writer Roberto Orci, who is currently penning it with Alex Kurtzman, recently opened up about the project, and spilled some pretty exciting deets about its progress!

He explains:

"Just been waiting for JJ to be free to really decide if he likes the story and hear his suggestions before we finish the script. Once he says go, we’ll have it in no time. Meanwhile, our outline is detailed enough (70+ pages!) to do some prep. In the meetings we’ve had with JJ, he’s already given us amazing input and ideas, and that’s been while he’s been up to his eyeballs in Super 8."

Holy shiz! That is QUITE the outline!

Here's hoping that it will be enough for them to kick the writing process into gear when Abrams has enough time to focus his attention onto the material!

We're really looking forward to seeing where they take this one, especially given how fresh and imaginative the first reboot was!

What do U think?? Are U excited for Star Trek 2?

Transformers On Its Way To The Small Screen

Filed under: TV NewsFilm FlickersMegan Fox

transformers heading to small screen

First, we lost Megan Fox in Transformers 3, and now we're losing almost EVERYBODY in the upcoming CGI TV series, Transformers: Prime On The Hub.

The new Transformers TV show will premiere on the Discovery/Hasbro kids' network on Nov. 26.

Here's what President of Hasbro Studios Stephen Davis had to say about the series:

"The classic clash between the Autobots and Decepticons remains true to the central story, so for fans who grew up with it, the studio has really attempted to take the best of the legacy and marry that with a new fresh look and new fresh stories."

Here's what executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who wrote the first two Transformer movies, had to say about the show:

"It's a deeper exploration of everything from what happened on Cybertron to their arrival on Earth. Things we've only hinted at in the movies we can really spend time getting into on the show."

Fans of the original 1980s TV series will be happy to hear that Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, who voiced Optimus Prime and Megatron, will be lending their vocal talents once again.

Obviously this is geared towards kids, but we're sure there are also plenty of die hard Transformers fans out there who will add this to their roster of TV shows.

Will U watch the new Transformers series when it premieres on the small screen?
