Alexandra Shipp Is Introduced As Aaliyah In First Teaser For New Lifetime Flick!

She's got a HUGE task ahead of her!

And this teaser does NOT help explain a lot!

Regardless, we were pretty excited to see the first look at the Nickelodeon star Alexandra Shipp and her transformation into the late music superstar Aaliyah which Lifetime recently showed in a new teaser!

Unfortunately the teaser was only fifteen seconds!!!

The Lifetime biopic's production has been wrought with controversy as Aaliyah's family have specifically said they disapprove of the movie known as Aaliyah: Princess of R&B which will focus on the budding superstar who died in a plane crash when she was 22-years-old in 2001.

They also had to at one point recast the lead role

A New Aaliyah Has Been Cast For Lifetime Flick! This Time They're Hiring A Nickelodeon Star To Replace Disney's Zendaya!

aaliyah new casting alexandra shipp Things didn't work out with Disney's Zendaya, but that's okay, because Nickelodeon was there to save the day! The Aaliyah Lifetime movie has suffered a few issues since it was announced, but now it sounds like things are moving forward. Wendy Williams took to Twitter today to announce, as executive producer, that filming will begin later this month…and their Aaliyah has been found! She tweeted:
