Music Brings Alzheimer's Patient Back From Nothingness

This is absolutely amazing.

Alzheimer's is a horrible disease that steals everything you love about a person.

There's a new documentary called Alive Inside where people use a person's favorite music to bring them back from the nothingness of Alzheimer's.

It is incredible to see a man who was basically in a trance, be able to look at people and answer questions just after listening to some of his favorite songs.

Check out the video (above) to see the true power of music.

Diabetes DOUBLES Your Risk Of Developing Alzheimer's Disease

Diabetes Doubles Alzheimer's risk

Oh no! More bad news for those with diabetes and one more reason to take steps to prevent it in the first place!

A study in Japan of more than 1,000 men and women over the age of 60 concluded that people with diabetes were TWICE as likely as others in the study to develop Alzheimer's disease within 15 years.

They were also 1.75 times more likely to develop dementia of any kind.

It is not clear yet how diabetes affects the development of Alzheimer's, but researchers have a few hypotheses. According to sources, possible links between the two diseases include:

Insulin resistance, which causes high blood sugar and in some cases leads to type 2 diabetes, may interfere with the body's ability to break down a protein (amyloid) that forms brain plaques that have been linked to Alzheimer's. High blood sugar (glucose) also produces certain oxygen-containing molecules that can damage cells, in a process known as oxidative stress.

Additionally, high blood sugar and cholesterol can lead to the hardening and narrowing of arteries in the brain, which may cause vascular dementia.

There seems to be more and more research coming out that should only encourage people to get moving! It's one thing to have diabetes, but it's another to lose your mind!

Glen Campbell's Alzheimer's Makes Him Forget He Has Alzheimer's!

Ugh! This is so sad!

Country legend Glen Campbell's alzheimer's was evident in his first interview since announcing his diagnosis two months ago.

During the interview, the Rhinestone Cowboy singer relied heavily on his wife to complete his thoughts and even managed to forget he had developed the disease.

"I hadn't gotten it yet. In fact, I don't even know where it came from," he spoke until his wife reminded him he had been diagnosed. With an innocent laugh, he continued:

"What? I haven't felt it yet. I've always been forgetful anyway. I'm only what, 78?"

His wife then correctly cited his age to be 75.

While Glenn's obvious decline is absolutely heartbreaking, we can't help but be comforted by the strong connection he has with his wife of nearly 30 years.

With a warm smile, he told ABC:

"There's a verse in the bible that says, 'If the man findeth a good wife he's found a good thing,' and I found a good thing, or she found me. Did you find me or did I find you?"

"I think we found each other," she answered.

"That's what we did," he said. "Amen."

For a real eye-opener about the tragic disease that affects nearly 5.1 million Americans, watch Glen Campbell's first televised interview since he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's above!
