Turns out most Americans would rather watch grown men in tight pants tackle each other than see an American Idol judge air hump a teenager!

Last night, the BIGGEST stars in music showed up to present, perform and grind on the American Music Award stage. But apparently Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj's booty dancing, and PSY's surprise boogie with MC Hammer wasn't enough to win ABC the ratings top spot.

2012 broadcast of the music kudos was down over 20 percent. In total viewers, it was down from last year's 12.0 million to just 9.47 million.

What happened? FOOTBALL — that's what!!

While Pink was being thrown all over the stage, 13.3 million pig-skin-lovers tuned in to watch the Baltimore Ravens play Pittsburgh Steelers.

LAME!!

Maybe next year they'll give out the crystal prisms on an other day, and score their ultimate goal — ratings domination.

Country diva Carrie Underwood rocked three different outfits at the American Music Awards on Sunday night, and she looked impossibly gorgeous in all of them.

Her hubby is one super lucky guy!

After appearing on the red carpet in a long & lacy Abed Mahfouz number, Carrie changed into a cobalt blue strapless piece by Sarli Couture.

This is definitely a notice-me! outfit. Not that Carrie would ever have any trouble being noticed, of course!

The pleats and ruffles on this dress create a unique silhouette, and the black sequin trim offsets the shiny blue satin nicely.

Miz Underwood gave the pretty frock a rocker feel with embellished Giuseppe Zanotti booties.

Flawless country queen!

The final performance of this year's American Music Awards was too legit to quit!!

Why, you ask??

PSY, the K-Pop star of our dreams, closed the American award show with another AH-MAZING rendition of Gangnam Style — but, like your favorite masseuse, he had a wonderful surprise up his sleeve!!

Halfway through the song he was joined on stage by…. MC Hammer!

That's right! MC mother*cking Hammer!!

The 45 year-old French DJ beat out Skrillex and Calvin Harris to take home the American Music Award for favorite Electronic Dance Music!

Good job, Davey!!

He might a pro at letting the beat drop, but thankfully the musician was careful not to drop the fragile looking trophy they handed him! LOLz!!

No more glitter?!

Taylor Swift eschewed the sparkles for a bridal look during her performance of I Knew You Were Trouble at the 2012 American Music Awards on Sunday.

This must've been a country wedding though, because Swifty paired the full-skirted gown with black cowboy boots.

Yee-haw!

Halfway through the performance, Taylor ripped off the white dress to reveal a Victorian-style gold & red corset top paired with a black tulle skirt. And it was hot!

We definitely prefer the rocker Taylor to the good-girl Taylor.

What a rock star!

Kelly Clarkson showed that she only gets finer with age during Sunday’s performance at the American Music Awards.

The American Idol alum wore a black curve-hugging Cesar Arellanes dress which featured jeweled accents throughout.

This dress was not at all flattering and the boots didn’t really work, but whatevs! Kelly looked faboosh in it anyway!
