Gremlins Remake Is FINALLY Happening!!! …Maybe

gremlins remake possible talks steven spielberg warner bros please

For the love of all that is sacred and holy, please — someone — MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

Warner Bros. is in talks with Steven Spielberg and Amblin Entertainment to make a Gremlins re-boot!!!

YES! YES! YES!

It's been 22 years, 7 months, and 3 days since the vastly underrated Gremlins 2: The New Batch graced theaters with its Hulk Hogan-infused presence, and the world hasn't set eyes on a Mogwai since!

Sure, we've encountered our fair unfair share of unfounded speculation!

Stand next to the water cooler fridge with Diet Coke in any Hollywood office, and your ears are bound to ingest a few delicately wonderful rumors about a Gremlins re-boot — but that talk never leads anywhere!

This time, however, those careless whispers could actually come true!!

Of course, Stevie Sunshine wouldn't direct the reboot/remake/sequel/amusement park ride — seriously, we fans will settle for anything — but he would serve as a producer!

If it helps, we promise to never eat past midnight ever again, LOLz!! But, no — REALLY!

Major SPOILERS On Secret J.J. Abrams Flick's Preview!!

cloverfieldmonsterjb1.jpg

This thing sounds EFFING crazy! We can't wait!

We've been hearing a lot of talk about J.J. Abrams' next, super secret flick, Super 8. First we heard news that Steven Spielberg was collaborating on the project, then we were discovered that the teaser trailer would premiere before Iron Man 2, and might be a sequel to Cloverfield.

Today, an insider leaked an entire rundown of what to expect from the teaser, with some legit information about the movie!

Unfortunately, Super 8 has nothing to do with Cloverfield or the monster friend stomping around in that flick, but instead is an original work which takes place in 1979.

Despite speculation, we can confirm that J.J. Abrams is both writer and director, and Steven Spielberg and Amblin Entertainment are producing the feature!

AND (SERIOUS SPOILERS AHEAD) the trailer apparently looks something like this:

The trailer lasts about one minute and a half.

It begins with the Green MPAA screen, followed by the Paramount Pictures logo. No Bad Robot at the header.

A train rushes by the screen. We notice that it has lots of cargo.

Text comes on the screen: “In 1979, The U.S. Air Force Closed A Section of AREA 51.

We see the railroad crossing light blinking and ringing as the camera pans up we see some sort of light moving in the background. What is it? A UFO?

More Text: “All The Materials Were To Be Transported To A Secure Facility In Ohio.

No, it appears to be the headlights of a yellow 1970’s truck, which skids in a 180 degree motion, and suddenly pulls onto the tracks.

Point of view of the truck heading into the light.

Black screen and white text: “From Producer Steven Spielberg

We see the truck explode as it hits the train.

Then… the cargo train is heading towards the car explosion - BAM. It is wrecked, thrown from the tracks like a wild snake. The flaming metal body flipping towards the camera. Cars flying through the air. It is INTENSE.

Another black screen and the text: “And Director J.J. Abrams

The camera really slowly moves in on the wrecked pieces of the train, most of which is now just scrap metal. At least one car remains intact.

Black screen, white text: “Next Summer

We see some sparks.

Black screen, white text: “It Arrives

We pull up on one of the train cars with a US Airforce logo. The wheel on the door begins to spin out of control as we pull in closer. The wall of the door begins to bend like some huge force is punching it from the inside.

Cut to one second of a close up of an 8mm camera lens.

Cut to black. White text: “Super 8

The credits at the end were pretty bare.

Paramount Pictures Presents, An Amblin Entertainment/Bad Robot Production

Super 8

Produced By Steve Spielberg J.J. Abrams Bryan Burk

Written and Directed by J.J. Abrams

And the bottom featured the Amblin Entertainment, Bad Robot and Paramount Pictures Logo.

It definitely feels like a late 1970’s Spielberg film, think Close Encounters of a Third Kind. I’m excited to see what the actual movie is about.

Wow! Since it's Abrams, we're not surprised the deets are pretty vague, but we think it sounds intense enough to spark people's interest!

We're looking forward to it! We LOVEZ us a good, old fashioned alien flick!

Thoughts??
