Department Of Justice Drops Federal Lawsuit Against North Carolina Over Anti-LGBT Bathroom Bill!

no title

Donald Trump's administration is letting North Carolina take a huge piss on progress.

On Friday, the Department of Justice said it was dropping the lawsuit it filed last year over the state's controversial "bathroom bill" — which restricted transgender people's use of public bathrooms.

The Obama administration previously alleged the Tar Heel state violated the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which bans discrimination based on sex, and argued the federal rights law also applied to trans discrimination.

Well, the Trump administration sees the issue differently — or more accurately, not worth their precious golf-playing, bomb-deploying time.

Justice Department officials said they were bowing out of the lawsuit because NC legislators recently repealed a portion of the law that clearly banned many trans people from using restrooms that match their gender identity in government facilities.

But while one part of the law, known as HB2, was repealed, state legislators kept another portion intact and added a new measure — and the final product still leaves plenty of room for LGBT discrimination.

Although the Oscars ceremony is coming up this month, there are more pressing issues at stake.

That's why one of Hollywood's biggest agencies — United Talent Agency — will forgo its annual Oscars party and will make a generous $250,000 donation to the American Civil Liberties Union, which has taken legal action against Donald Trump's Muslim ban, and the International Rescue Committee.

Disney Sued For Discriminating Against Muslim Disneyland Employee!

Disneyland sued for discrimination against muslim employee

This is NOT good for Disney's wholesome image!

The massive conglomerate has been sued by the American Civil Liberties Union because the company allegedly fired a Muslim employee at Disneyland in 2010 because she wore her hijab headscarf at work.

Even before being terminated, Imane Boudlal says she received insults from her employees AND supervisors because of her religion, origin and skin color. In fact, some went so far as to call her a terrorist, a camel and a bitch all while they carelessly accused Arabs of being terrorists and bombmakers.

The worst part of the allegations against the corporation is that managers and executives didn't seem to care about the prejudiced comments. CLU chief counsel Mark Rosenbaum elaborated:

Constance's Old School Denies Setting Up Sham Prom!

We're not buying it!

The Itawamba County School District is denying the American Civil Liberties Union's claims on Constance McMillen's behalf that they set her up to attend a "sham prom" at the country club with a few other students while the rest of the student body attended a prom at the nearby community center.

The ACLU alleged that the school district superintendent Teresa McNeece and attorney Michele Floyd ran a meeting with parent organizers to hold separate proms.

Disgusting!

While the district admitted some of the photographs were from an event that night at the Evergreen Community Center, other photos they had in their case were of students at a function in Memphis, Tennessee.

Constance has since transferred schools and will graduate on June 2.

Good for you, girlfriend!

Constance McMillen Brings Her School District To Court To Fight For Her Rights!!

ap100311144412jb.jpg

It has begun!

As we've reported, Constance McMillen is the Mississippi teenager who has been fighting for her right to bring her girlfriend as a date to her high school's prom. She has made national headlines for her bravery and grace during a very public ordeal, and is now testifying in a US district court case against her school district!!

Of course, NOW the school officials are claiming they thought about canceling the prom even BEFORE Constance came forward with her request!

In the proceedings yesterday, Superintendent Teresa McNeece testified that they were concerned about the use of drugs or alcohol at a school-sponsored prom, so they were hesitant to hold the event from the getgo.

YEAH RIGHT! Like possible drug and alcohol use has ever stopped most high schools from throwing proms before??

She also attempts to blame McMillen for causing massive disruptions with her request.

"We were being hounded every day. Our students were being hounded. We were having a tough time of any bell-to-bell instruction."

Of course, during her cross-examination, apparently McNeece could not give any specific as to what those disruptions were. We're guessing because there WERE NONE.

The American Civil Liberties Union, who represent Constance and are behind the lawsuit, claimed in court that the school district has violated the teen's First Amendment right and claim that the outpour of resentment and anger was only AFTER the school cancelled prom, not while Constance made her request.

McMillen claims that the day prom was cancelled she had to leave school because the backlash from her peers was so intense:

"There were so many dirty looks. A lot of people didn't like me very much."

Poor thing!

US District Judge Glen H. Davidson has not specified when he will make his final ruling on the matter.

In the meantime, parents have reportedly been organizing a prom for the students, but Constance claims she has not been told about it!

Nice! What a great example to set for your kids, folks!

Luckily, the ACLU is organizing its own prom on May 8th that is open for everyone but specifically geared toward other gay students!

Good! Everyone deserves a High School prom!

Your courage has truly touched us, Constance!! Keep that head held high, you're in our thoughts!!

Mississippi School District SUED For Discriminating Against Lesbian Student!!

Filed under: Gay Gay GayLegal MattersSad SadLGBT

Good!! People NEED to know that this is NOT OKAY.

After the Itawamba school district in Mississippi decided to cancel their high school's prom rather than let a lesbian student attend the dance with her girlfriend, they were slapped with a lawsuit by the American Civil Liberties Union!!

The ACLU claims that the student, Constance McMillen, has had her First Amendment right to freely express herself taken away, and is asking that the U.S. District Court have the school's prom reinstated.

McMillen says:

"All I wanted was the same chance to enjoy my prom night like any other student. But my school would rather hurt all the students than treat everyone fairly. This isn't just about me and my rights anymore — now I'm fighting for the right of all the students at my school to have our prom."

Once again, we can't believe how much grace and strength this young woman speaks with.

Keep fighting the good fight, girlfriend!!

You've got A LOT of support coming your way!!
