How You Can Help Hurricane Harvey Victims

no title

Thousands of residents are stranded and in need of help after Hurricane Harvey brought unprecedented flooding to Southeastern Texas this weekend.

Thankfully, assisting those affected by the natural disaster is just a click away — and there are so many great organizations to choose from.

The American Red Cross is seeking donations to help Harvey victims by opening shelters and distributing supplies all across the Gulf coast.

Celebs and politicians like Barack Obama and Ellen DeGeneres urged their Twitter followers to call 1-800-RED CROSS or text HARVEY to 90999 to make a $10 donation for those in need.

Of course, there are plenty of other organizations currently taking donations for Harvey relief — including Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services, the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center, and Catholic Charities USA.

On Tuesday, the ARC apologized for a swimming safety poster they made that had been spotted in at least two Colorado hospitals. The poster, which labels kids as "Cool" or "Not Cool" depending on whether or not they are following the rules is diverse, but the problem is they pretty much label all the "Not Cool" kids all ALL the kids who aren't caucasian!

Meanwhile all the white children are labeled "Cool." Ugh…

The OBVIOUSLY racist poster was spotted by John Sawyer who posted the pic to Twitter (above) saying:

Deck the halls with boughs of Heidi!

After Saturday night's Haunted Holiday Party, Heidi Klum flew like a flash to Lindenhurst, NY on Sunday to light the Christmas tree and deliver toys to girls and boys affected by Hurricane Sandy.

For the festive event, Heidi looked holiday chic in a sequined Lin sweater, black Paige pants, rag & bone boots and a puffy Moncler coat.

Not only are we impressed by Heidi's giant heart, but there wasn't a single rhinestone left on her face from the night before!

This is so great!

Ralph Lauren is digging deep into his pockets and donating $2 million to help New Yorkers who were affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The designer explained why he was moved, saying:

"I'm a born and bred New Yorker. I raised my family here and started my business here. We want to support the selfless work of so many agencies, professionals and volunteers and hope that these donations will make it easier for our cities to rebuild and recover."

Both the Ralph and Ricky Lauren Family Foundation and the Ralph Lauren Corporation are donating $1 million each and will be divided amongst the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, American Red Cross, Robin Hood Relief Fund and other organizations.

We’re glad public figures like Ralph are helping, not only because they have the ca$$$h, but to encourage others to as well.
