We know there's no crying in baseball, but we'll make an exception here!
Last night, the New York Yankees played their final home game of the season, which meant it was the fans' last chance to see their beloved closer Mariano Rivera before he retires!
Unfortunately, the Bronx Bombers were losing 0-4 to the Tampa Bay Rays, so there was no chance of a save opportunity. But they still decided to send Mo into the game to get the exit he deserves!
As usual, he completely shut down all four batters he faced before he was eventually pulled out of the game. However, instead of sending manager Joe Girardi to the mound, his longtime teammates Andy Pettitte and Derek Jeter made the pitching change!
Cue the waterworks, people!!
To say it was an emotional exit would be an understatement, as Mariano burst into tears as he was greeted by his teammates and got a much deserved standing ovation from the crowd!!
Not only will Mo go down as one of the best closers of all time and a 5-time Wold Series champ, but he'll always be remembered for being a class act on and off the field!
So long, Mariano! The game wont be the same without you!
Ch-ch-check out the emotional send off …AFTER THE JUMP!!!!
