andrew garfield accused of queer baiting

Andrew Garfield has SERIOUSLY put his foot in his mouth.

While promoting his role in Tony Kushner's play Angels in America at a NT Platform discussion on Monday, the Hacksaw Ridge star opened up about how he prepared for the emotionally challenging part. In case you didn't know, Garfield's character in the celebrated hit struggles with the reality of AIDS during the height of the crisis in the 1980s.

Now, we knew the British actor was a fan of RuPaul's Drag Race as he stopped by the Werq the World Tour show in London, but we didn't realize the program served as his main source of inspiration for his part in AIA. Emma Stone's ex explained:

"Every Sunday I would have eight friends over and we would just watch Ru. I mean every single series of RuPaul's Drag Race. I mean every series. This is my life outside of this play. I am a gay man right now just without the physical act—that's all."

Well, well. The A-lister didn't stop there as he added:

Zachary Quinto Throwing Shade!

Spock has some 'tude!

Last night, New York Magazine tried to snag a quick interview with Zachary Quinto at the 20th-anniversary gala for STC. NYM wanted to talk to Zac about his work in Tony Kushner's Angels in America, but Zac went on the attack when things got too "personal."

How so? Oh, just take a read of the interview:

What's your post-show ritual?
I like to take showers after the show. And then I read. I'm reading Jonathan Franzen's Freedom, like the rest of the world. But all these questions are too personal, sorry.

Let's get less personal then. What's your favorite ice cream flavor?
Still too personal. Sorry.

Is there anything you feel okay talking about?
I'd rather just talk about Tony. I'm just beginning to learn from him, how to string together so many cohesive, multidimensional, layered, and unique thoughts. [Quinto ends interview.]

Wow. Someone is throwing their weight around - weight that they don't really have to begin with.

This is not logical.

Zachary Quinto Addresses Gay Rumors By Saying…

Filed under: Gay Gay GayFilm FlickersZachary QuintoLGBT

zachary quinto is vague to ny times about his sexuality

The New York Times asked Angels in America/Star Trek actor Zachary Quinto whether or not he's gay, to which he replied:

“I’m grateful that celebrity or notoriety wasn’t thrust upon me when I was in my 20s, because I think I would have buckled under the weight of it, as so many people do, but I’ve come to realize through experience that ultimately I really do have a lot of power in terms of the way I relate to the public or to people outside of my intimate circle of friends and family. Boundaries are very important to me.”

More from Quinto:

“The fact that these things are such hot-button issues right now, socially and politically, I would much rather talk about that than talk about who I sleep with. I would love to be a voice in this maelstrom of chaos and obsessive celebrity infatuation that says, ‘Let’s talk about something that matters'."

We can certainly appreciate what he's saying, and we think it's wonderful that he's been such a positive, supportive voice who has been vocal about important issues such as anti-gay bullying, gay marriage, and "don't ask, don't tell."

Admittedly, if he does consider himself to be gay, it could be really fantastic for him to announce it to the world.

Given the fact that he plays Spock in one of the coolest, most popular, active film franchises at the moment, it could definitely be comforting for teens to see a gay role model in such an awesome, high-profile movie as Star Trek.

Just a thought.

Regardless, we consider Zachary Quinto to be a positive influence in the gay community, and we appreciate his support!
