'World's Saddest Polar Bear' Arturo Dies After 22 Years In Unbearable Living Conditions

no title

A sad tale with a tragic end.

Arturo, often called "the world's saddest polar bear", has passed away after being trapped inside an unbearable Argentinian zoo for 22 years.

According to reports, the 30-year-old animal died at Mendoza Zoological Park on Sunday due to unknown circumstances… but surely the 100+°F South American heat didn't help the creature naturally found in the North Pole.

Arturo had been the subject of numerous petitions from animal rights activists — including public protest from Cher herself — but sadly, the zoo never seemed to care about his well-being.

In fact, Assiniboine Park Zoo in Canada tried to take the creature away from his captors, but Mendoza lacked even the basic medical information necessary to guarantee safe transport.

To give you an image of what he endured, the wild animal's enclosure only featured a 20-inch pool and solid concrete slabs… but things took an even more depressing turn in 2012 when Arturo's cellmate Pelusa died from cancer.

How many more animals need to die in order to teach the world to treat our furry friends better??

Rest in peace, Arturo.

Remembering Cecil The Lion A Year After His Tragic Death — Find Out Where His Cubs AND His Killer Are Now!

no title

We can't believe it's been a year.

As you surely remember, Cecil the Lion was mercilessly killed by an American dentist at the Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe on July 1, 2015.

Now, a year to the day later, we have some great news about the majestic wild animal that was taken too soon in honor of the anniversary of his death.

While Cecil's brother Jericho was initially thought to be dead, not only has he survived the entire year without the leader of the pride… but all three of his lionesses and all seven of his cubs are alive as well!

Unfortunately, not everyone is as excited about Cecil's family thriving — in fact, the lion's shooter Dr. Walter Palmer doesn't seem to care at all!

According to a Daily Mail report, the Minnesota dentist was actually spotted driving around Minneapolis in his brand new $120,000 Porsche Cayenne Turbo this week, smiling and laughing.

So sad that no one can even charge him with a crime after all this!

In just the past couple months, we've seen the slaughter of both Harambe the Gorilla and Juma the Jaguar, so there's clearly more work to do in regards to wildlife preservation.

Rest in peace, Cecil, Harambe, and Juma.

Utah Is Enforcing Its Ban On Porn With 'URL', The First Porn-Sniffing Dog! Yes, Really!

no title

Utah sure is one interesting place.

The Beehive state has previously declared pornography a "public health hazard," and now the government is seeing to it that they do something about it by sniffing out all that porn in their state — with a porn-sniffing dog!

URL (pronounced "Earl") is a beautiful black lab rescued from a shelter as a puppy that went through six months of training in Indiana specifically to sniff out porn — and now the good dog is in Utah working against smut!

The 16-month-old dog has been trained to use its highly sensitive nose to sniff out unique chemical components of tech items that have been known to carry pornography — thumb drives, cell phones, tablets, and the like.

According to a release from the Weber County Sheriff's Office, URL will be used for quite a bit of technological detection crimes around the county:

Over 400 Neglected Animals — Including Cats, Rabbits, Turtles, & Even An Alligator — Rescued From A Single Disgusting Home!

no title

This must have been one truly disgusting rescue mission.

When you hear "Operation Noah's Ark", you may be inclined to imagine a group of people pleasantly interacting with sets of beautiful animals.

Unfortunately, that couldn't be further from the truth… as authorities in Upstate New York just rescued more than 400 animals from a home in worse than dire living conditions!

According to the Nassau County SPCA, workers were called to a home on Tuesday when neighbors reported strange smells and noises coming from the house… only to find hundreds of birds, turtles, and other pets and wildlife left to die.

Apparently, home owner Gary Gruber had become too old to take care of the animals himself, and despite his best efforts, the creatures were living inside feces-encrusted cages that took eight hours to clean.

Of the 400+ animals found, authorities identified 251 birds, 151 turtles, four reptiles and a dozen mammals — including rabbits, prairie dogs, a chinchilla, a skunk, and even African Grey parrots and other endangered tortoise species!

This news comes less than a year after Gary was cited for keeping a 4-foot long alligator in his home… but for some reason, he was allowed to keep his six cats and dogs despite potentially facing animal cruelty charges.

Thankfully, the birds and turtles have been taken to a wildlife sanctuary in Long Island.

no title

Powerful music can help inspire change.

Last year, Lisa Vanderpump teamed up with Sharon Osbourne in hopes of putting an end to the Yulin Dog Festival — the annual Chinese festival that tortures and slaughters thousands of dogs for their meat.

Now with her animal activism hat on, the Real Housewives star has joined forces with Diane Warren and Leona Lewis to release a haunting charity song to raise awareness about the cruel festival!

The chilling ballad (We Are All) Looking For Home was written by Warren, performed by Leona, and produced by Lisa's Stop Yulin Forever and Vanderpump Dog Foundation, in hopes of giving a voice to end puppy pain.

And while there's no formula to create change, the X Factor winner's angelic vocals playing over images of suffering canines are definitely powerful enough to wake people up to this serious matter.

Available on iTunes on Friday, 100 percent of song's proceeds will go to ending dog torture globally!

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child Already Has A Casting Change! Find Out Why The Stage Play Will No Longer Be Using Real Owls!

no title

Looks like Hedwig will no longer need to break a wing!

Earlier this week, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child started its previews at the Palace Theatre in London, and audiences couldn't get enough of the magical 2-part stage play!

But despite rave reviews, one hiccup during the first-ever performance has already called for the production to remove live owls from the show!

During Tuesday night's debut performance, an owl that was supposed to make a quick flight during a scene failed to return to its handler — and instead escaped into the auditorium!

Since the play is still in its preview stage, producers were quick to scrap the birds. Audiences on Thursday night's show were greeted with a sign that said "no real birds" were used.

The producers explained their decision in an animal-friendly statement:

Cincinnati Zoo Builds Higher Barriers & Reopens Gorilla Exhibit After Harambe's Tragic Death

The zoo is improving its safety precautions after Harambe's death.

The Cincinnati Zoo's Gorilla World exhibit has reopened for the first time since the tragic death of Harambe the Gorilla.

Late last month, the 17-year-old silverback gorilla was shot and killed after a toddler fell into the enclosure. Officials said tranquilizing the animal would agitate it, so the best thing for the child's safety was to end the creature's life.

The beautiful primate's killing caused quite a bit of controversy, as people began to criticize the kid's parents, as well as the zoo's protocols.

And after a police investigation revealed the tiny tot's mother would not be charged over the incident, zoo director Thane Maynard has decided it's time open up the exhibit once again, telling Cincinnati.com:

"It's been a very difficult time, as you can imagine, with the loss of Harambe…. Losing Harambe is just like losing a family member. People that work at zoos care about their animals very much. And so we are leaning on each other and sticking together, but of course it is time to move on and to see gorillas again."

But he didn't just reopen Gorilla World. Mr. Maynard and his team put in a new, taller, barrier that has wood beams at the top and bottom, as well as netting in between.

The zoo has also installed three security cameras.

And even though Thane increased the enclosure's safety measures, he defended their old perimeter, saying:
