Ann Curry didn’t have an easy few months leading up to her TODAY Show departure.
Reporter Brian Stelter revealed in an excerpt from his upcoming book Top of the Morning: Inside the Cutthroat World of Morning TV that Matt Lauer’s co-anchor was the butt of quite a few staffroom jokes, much to Ann’s chagrin.
A staffer revealed to Stelter:

But, but… Sliding Doors!
Star magazine calculated the 20 Most Hated Celebrities in Hollywood and we were STUNNED to learn Gwyneth Paltrow is at the top of everyone's sh*t list!!!
Sure, being blonde and beautiful and rich and successful and always having the best seat at a Coldplay concert will earn you the ire of plenty, but number one?!
Haters gonna hate, we suppose!
The rest of the inclusions are less difficult to understand

For the past couple of weeks it feels like it's been Matt Lauer vs. The World. But apparently there's at least one person out there willing to stick up for him!
The Today show's executive producer Don Nash rushed to the aid of the highly scrutinized anchor and said the show would suffer without him.
Matt has been under heavy fire recently for multiple incidents, including a controversial interview that featured sound bytes from Jerry Sandusky, and some are even putting the blame on him for the Today show's drop in ratings.
But Don is hoping to clear the air and says he has no plan on getting rid of Matt. In fact, he says everybody LOVES him:

It is pretty safe to say that Joan Rivers is NOT a fan of Ann Curry.
During an interview on Friday, the uncensored comedian mocked the former Today host.

Matt Lauer just can't seem to catch a break lately!
The anchor was already under heavy scrutiny for the firing of Ann Curry and the Today show's plummeting ratings, and we're guessing his highly controversial interview with filmmaker John Ziergler concerning Jerry Sandusky isn't helping him win any popularity contests!
But it sounds like some good might come out of this ugly mess, as we're hearing NBC is reaching out to Anderson Cooper to replace Matt!
A source close to the situation claims that the deal could be coming fairly soon, saying:

The super controversial Jerry Sandusky interview aired yesterday on the Today show, and after it received a whole mess of backlash, anchor Matt Lauer thinks that NBC set him up for FAILURE!!
Lauer hosted the 30-minute segment, which featured filmmaker John Ziergler and recordings from the child molester, and while he was interviewing Ziegler, the host looked like he was in an agonizing state.
According to reports, Matt feels that producers PLAYED him:

What the hell is wrong with NBC?
Not EVERYTHING has to be a competition! If Ann Curry wants to wish Robin Roberts well while she's fighting an insanely scary medical problem, well, she should be allowed to. Without your permission. Regardless if you feel like she was trying to "aid the enemy."
That's so offensively asinine that we're about to barf. Aiding the enemy?? REALLY??
Here's what the report said:
