annette funicello britney spears devastated tragic passing twitter

BritBrit is CRUSHED right now and we can't blame her!

The lovely Annette Funicello, unofficial Godmother to the entire Mickey Mouse Club Family, died today!

Before she blew up big with …Baby One More Time, Britney Spears was, of course, an adorable little mini Mousketeer herself and likely looked up to Annette as a role model!

Brit initially let loose a big faux pas when she accidentally referred to Annette's passing as "great," but that seemed like a misunderstanding.

After further digesting the terrible news, she tweeted

Mouseketeer Queen Annette Funicello Dies At 70

annette funicello death

She was the dream of millions of teenagers back when she owned the Mouseketeers.

Annette Funicello was a lady adored for her poise and pizazz on Disney's legendary Mickey Mouse Club, as well as her co-starring contributions to Frankie Avalon's Beach Party movies.

We are very sorry to report that Annette has passed away at the age of 70, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.

Her family was by her side on Monday when they decided to end the coma that consumed her for years.

So sad to see such a jewel in the world of entertainment lose her life, but we're hopeful for the peace she and her family may now find that they couldn't in her coma.

Poor thing! We hope she's all right!

We just learned that Beach Party/Mickey Mouse Club star Annette Funicello's house in Los Angeles has burned down.

So sad to see the "after" photos (above).

At least the posters from her film/TV work somewhat survived the fire.

Our thoughts are with Annette and her family during this difficult time.

We wish her a speedy and full recovery.
