Giant anteaters are born blind so they get to ride on mama's back. This not only provides easy and fun transportation, but also excellent camouflage.
But, this kiddie won't be a mama's boy for long. After 10 months, giant anteaters are fully independent.
Better make it last, Mom! They grow up FAST!

Corndog, an anteater at Roger Williams Park Zoo, delivered her first child April 5th.
Staffers say the pup is healthy and Corndog gave birth right on schedule. The pup will stay on mama's back for most of its first year of life and soon, Corndog will be able venture around freely.
Giant anteaters are listed as a "vulnerable" species so seeing a babe from the resident female is good news for the zoo and the species!
Congratulations on being a new mama, Corndog!
