Earlier, we listed all the ways that Cher was a badass and included one reason was the fact that she turned down an opportunity to be an ambassador and perform during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia!
We all know that the passion behind that was because of Russia's backwards anti-gay laws, too! And now, know we know more about why she made her decision.
Here's what she said about the decision to decline:

We had a feeling that Johnny Weir wouldn't be competing in the Sochi Olympics, despite some hints as to a possible bid — but we thought if he DIDN'T go, it would be more because of Russia's archaic and offensive anti-gay laws!
Instead, the two-time Olympian did not register for the qualifiers for the national championships, as the deadline to register was Sept. 1.
Johnny hasn't competed since withdrawing from Rostelecom Cup last year, and we all know he finished sixth at the Vancouver Olympics. We bring this up because only those who placed in the top five at last year's nationals or who won medals at the most recent Olympics or world championships are eligible to skip the qualifiers to go to the next games… which means that Johnny is officially not on the team.

Sophia Bush threw some serious shade at the Kremlin, and we loved it!
Sophia took to Twitter on Monday calling for an all out boycott of Russia, and the upcoming Winter Olympics as a response to the punitive anti-gay laws currently in place, as well as a recently documented incident of intolerance, where five Russian men beat up a trans woman.
Ch-ch-check out her moving and strongly worded tweets…AFTER THE JUMP!!!

Anton Krasovsky had been a host and editor-in-chief on the state-controlled, propaganda-based channel Kontr TV, when several months ago he decided that enough was enough.
In an extremely courageous move, considering Russia's draconian Anti-Gay laws, Anton came out on the air.
Here's some of what Anton said in his very moving address:
"I’m gay, and I’m just the same person as you, my dear audience, as president Putin, as prime minister Medvedev and deputies of our Duma."
After that he apparently received huge applause from the audience and the show's staff.
When discussing some of the reasons he decided to come out, especially on pro-Kremlin TV show, Anton was very frank:

It's almost worse to try and backtrack on things you obviously believe, because it's easily apparent that you're only doing it because of the flak you've gotten. It's kind of offensive to assume we wouldn't notice exactly what you're doing!
Chris Broussard is doing exactly all that as he called into the radio show The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 to explain his comments about Jason Collins being gay and to backtrack a little bit! While he still rattles off everything he's read in the Bible (at length), he's also trying to make it clear that he loves everyone and doesn't look down on a single person, even if it might seem like it.
It's worth a listen (above) as he tries to explain himself, and to hear the host liken the whole situation to a white guy saying he 'isn't racist' because he has black friends!
We can't really get into religion here, because everyone is entitled to their beliefs. We CAN get into going into a religious tirade on ESPN when they aren't asking for your personal religious opinions! This interview is different because he's asked specifically about his personal beliefs — we just wish when he was being paid to talk about sports, he would talk about sports!
Easy enough! LOLz!

We allllllllll expected there to be some heat when Jason Collins became the first active gay male athlete in the NBA yesterday, but who would've thought Chris Broussard would've jumped up on his religious soap box LIVE ON ESPN (above)??
It's one thing to have your beliefs, but when they systematically treat a group of people less than others, that's when you should probably not go on-air at your highly public job and run your mouth. ESPN agrees, but unfortunately their statement about Broussards homophobic comments was pret-ty weak:

Jeremy Irons has been in a questionable position since he voiced his concerns on the legalization of same-sex marriage on HuffPost Live.
But the actor, whose father-marrying-son soundbite — WTF, right?? — has now been heard round the world, took to his official website to post an open letter regarding his prior comments. And, as it happens, it turns out Jeremy is far from anti-gay.
Ch-ch-check out his letter (below):
