Relax! Definitely not!
A few boo's never hurt anyone - it comes with the territory when you're an X Factor judge!
During day two of the reality competition, producers apparently told judges L.A. Reid, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, and Cheryl Cole to not hold back, and the latter definitely took it into consideration, apparently asking one potential if she were "singing in a different language" and telling another that she "felt like you have been studying some hip-hop videos - it didn't seem real to me."
This didn't go over too well with some audience members, who responded to her criticism with boos! However, people really lost it when she said no to a 13 year contestant, even though she put a positive spin on it:
"You are 13 so you have plenty of time to practice. I am sure you will be great when you come back for X Factor in a couple of years. But I’m going to say no."
However, fear not, Chezza fans, because as a source close to production explained:
"Cheryl was noticeably tougher - but stood up to all the flak brilliantly especially as it was a much harsher crowd than the UK version. She’s got a job to do and she coped admirably. The booing wasn’t personal at her – all the panel got a rough ride. It’s part and parcel of her job to make difficult decisions that not everyone agrees with."
Exactly! You can't please everyone, and we give her a lot of credit to come in as the least recognizable judge (at least here) and be so composed and unwavering under all the audience pressure!
Keep up the good work, gurl! America is going to love you!
