Gunman Headed For The LA Gay Pride Parade Had Rigged Rifle In A Way That 'Suggests His Purposes Are Deadly'
We're so glad he was caught before he could cause some serious harm.
Just hours after the tragic shooting at an Orlando gay club that killed 49 people and injured dozens on Sunday, police in Santa Monica, California thwarted another potential massacre when they arrested James Wesley Howell as he was headed to LA Gay Pride with a lot of weapons and explosives.
Now, we're learning just how deadly that scary situation could have been.
Recent reports say that the cops found a loaded assault rifle that had been rigged to shoot twice as much. According to authorities, the high-powered weapon was loaded with a 30-round magazine, and had ANOTHER inverted 30-round magazine taped to it.
Former FBI agent James Wedick explained that this mechanism would have allowed the 20-year-old to reload another 30 rounds almost immediately, doubling his ability to quickly kill people.
