Anderson Cooper Vs. People Texting At The Movies

We are SO happy that this made it onto the RidicuList!!!

Last month, Anderson Cooper sarcastically added HATERS of the Botox mom Kerry Campbell, who injects her 8-year-old daughter with botox, onto the list, which we thought was absolutely HIGHlarious!

Now, he's added people texting at the movies to the list (above), and we cannot emphasize enough how much we agree with him!!!

Thank you for getting this important message out to the world, Anderson! We appreciate it!

How do U feel about people texting at the movies?

Fired AGAIN! Film Critic Elvis Mitchell Can't Get A Break!

Filed under: Film FlickersSad SadBusiness Blitz

elvis mitchell loses another job

It's not easy being Elvis!

Back in September, we learned that Elvis Mitchell had landed a job as a co-host on Roger Ebert's new At the Movies show.

Unfortunately for Elvis, he lost that gig, and now he's been fired from his gig at the Movieline blog after only three months!

Apparently, Mitchell was let go after he included a "wayward fact" in his review of Source Code. Nothing's been confirmed, but given the fact that he criticized the film for a scene that NEVER made it into the final cut, there's some speculation as to whether or not Mitchell actually watched the movie, or just reviewed an earlier draft of the screenplay.

Then again, maybe there was even more to the firing. Here's IndieWire's Anne Thompson on Elvis Mitchell's character:

"Mitchell is not good with money. Or meeting deadlines. Filing expenses. Or doing what he says he’s going to do. He has left or lost one job after another, from NPR to the New York Times. Famously, he never turned up for a job he had accepted at the L.A. Times, nor for a job as a development exec for Sony. He has expensive tastes. He likes Versace suits and staying at the Four Seasons in L.A."

"Here’s Mitchell in a nutshell. At Sundance, I was standing in line at a snack bar when juror Jason Reitman accosted Mitchell, asking him why he hadn’t returned any of his emails or phone calls. Mitchell demurred."

Hopefully Elvis can get himself together, but at this point, it sounds like his reputation may be pretty damn tarnished! Guess we'll see when/if/where he gets hired on next.

Do U think Elvis Mitchell is still hireable? Would U hire him?

24-Year-Old Blogger Lands Hosting Gig On Roger Ebert's At The Movies!

24 year old blogger gets hosting gig on ebert show

Hooray for blogging!

At only 24 years old, Ignatiy Vishnevetsky has landed a co-hosting position on Roger Ebert's show Ebert Presents At the Movies.

Here's what he had to say about the honor:

"You have to be the best you that you can possibly be. There is a legacy here. But the best way to honor that legacy is not to be Roger Ebert or Gene Siskel.

I know it's a big deal, but when someone gives you this type of opportunity it makes you want to work a lot harder."

And here's Vishnevetsky on comparisons people are making between him and Gene Siskel:

"Everyone has been characterizing me as this cold analytical egghead guy, but I'm a man of extreme passion. I lean more towards Ebert who I liked more as a critic."

SO exciting to see a Blogger getting such a prestigious hosting gig…and at SUCH a young age!

Congratulations, Ignatiy! We wish U the absolute best of luck!

Roger Ebert Brings Back Iconic Show

web-ebert.jpg

Thank God! We will finally know which movies to watch again!

The revamped program called Roger Ebert Presents At The Movies will air in January 2011 on PBS and will not only cover movies, but will feature special segments on new media, classics, on-demand viewing, and genres.

The half-hour show started by Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert in 1975 and is responsible for creating the famous “thumbs up, thumbs down” ratings for movies.

Roger Ebert will not host the show. Christy Lemire, film critic of The Associated Press, and Elvis Mitchell of National Public Radio will be co-hosts.

We give this show two thumbs up!

Robert Ebert Dishes On Cancellation And Possible New Show

rogerebwenn2607454__opt.jpg

Although At the Movies has been cancelled, Roger Ebert has taken to his blog to inform fans that he is not done reviewing films.

He says:

Yes, Chaz and I are still going ahead with our plans for a new movie review program on television. No, Wednesday's cancellation of "At the Movies" hasn't discouraged us. We believe a market still exists for a weekly show where a couple of critics review new movies.

I can't reveal details about the talks we're deeply involved in. I can say that the working title was "Roger Ebert presents Fill in Words Here," and that it has now become "Roger Ebert presents At the Movies." Gene Siskel and I started using that title way back in 1980, when we left PBS for Tribune Broadcasting. I can also say the Thumbs will return.

So glad he'll still be working!
