John Galliano is set to go on trial for his anti-semitic rants back in March and his new lawyer is ready to duke it out with the prosecutors.

Aurelien Hamelle, who took over for Stephane Zerbib after being fired last month, says his client WILL testify his addiction to booze and pills are responsible for the hateful words.

Hamelle claims Galliano started hitting the bottle and popping Valium like "candy" to cope with the pressures of making money for Dior and managing his own line.

His lawyer continues:

"It's clear that John Galliano was ill when this happened. He had a triple addiction to alcohol, benzodiazepine (Valium) and sleeping pills. The combined effect of these drugs left him in a state of complete and utter abandon…When he was in that state he had no way of knowing or remembering what he said. Every witness at the cafe has said he was in an abnormal condition."
