Hip hip hoor-Eywa! This is one Pandora we won't hit skip on!

Avatar is officially getting another sequel, which puts the count at a total of 4 movies total in the series! This is one Pandora we won't hit skip on!

It was just announced that 20th Century Fox and James Cameron have set the release dates for Avatar 2, 3, and 4, for December of 2016, 2017, and 2018, respectively.

By then, James will probably have created the actual Avatar technology, allowing you to enter the bodies of the characters of the movie, and movie tickets will cost $219.

The creator of Terminator: The Sarah Chronicles, Josh Friedman, has been tapped to pen one of the sequels, as well the writers for Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, and Shane Salerno, who collaborated with James on Fantastic Voyage.

On the subject of adding another Avatar film, James had this to say:

Is Avatar Heading To New Zealand?

avatar-2-and-3-may-be-filmed-in-new-zealand-web.jpg

James Cameron just purchased some farmland outside New Zealand's capital and some believe it is for something EPIC.

The director currently resides in the Bu and they plan to stay in Kiwi Land "indefinitely."

The 2,500 acres of farmland is close to Peter Jackson's estate, who is currently filming The Hobbit, so rumors are floating around that parts of Avatar 2 and 3 may be filmed in the area.

Cameron paid a whopping $16.7 million for the land.

That's a lot of sheep! But we think he's got something bigger in mind than farming.

Uh-oh! Does this mean we're getting the prequel treatment!

Although Sigourney Weaver's character apparently died at the end of Avatar, she recently said that she'd be returning for the follow-up flick, prompting fan speculation as to how she'll be resurrected!

However, director James Cameron recently announced that we shouldn't "jump to conclusions" about her role, nor should we about what to expect from the sequel!

James Cameron Talks Avatar 2 AND 3

james cameron talks avatar 2 and 3

As we mentioned back in October, James Cameron plans to release Avatar 2 and 3 on Christmas 2014 and 2015.

Now, it looks like Cameron's got updates for us on his progress on the films:

"I am in the process of writing the next two 'Avatar' films now. We are planning to shoot them together and post them together, and we will probably release them not quite back to back, but about a year apart. Christmas '14 and '15 is the current plan."

And here's Cameron on who will return for Avatar 2:

"Basically, if you survived the first film, you get to be in the second film, at least in some form."

Guess we'll get to see some more Giovanni Ribisi! Hooray! LOLz.

Here's Cameron on how the Avatar sequels will "benefit the environment":

"Fox has partnered with me to donate a chunk of the profits to environmental causes that are at the heart of the 'Avatar' world. I didn't want to make more 'Avatar' movies without a grander plan in place."

We LOVE the fact that they'll be donating some profits to benefit the environment. Def makes us want to see these films absolutely ROCK the box office, which we have a feeling they will!

Are U excited for more environmentally-friendly Avatar?
