What a horrible thing to go through!
In 2014, Mia Henderson — the transgender sister of Detroit Pistons reserve forward Reggie Bullock — was murdered in Baltimore because of her sexuality.
Recently, the basketball star spoke with The Herd about this tragic event.
In the interview, Bullock said he admired his older sister for having the courage to live the life she wanted.
"He lived as himself, he taught me how to be [myself], he taught me how to take care of the family. Just be yourself. He was happy with being who he was, he wasn't worried about how others felt about him."
In turn, the 25-year-old became a stronger person with the lessons Mia taught him.
"A person that can isolate the whole world out and not care about other people's feelings is a strong person, to me. I think that was one of the biggest things that I got from him."
We thank Reggie for his openness, and we know this interview will break down stigmas surrounding the transgender community.
