NFL Player Arrested On Drug Charges — And His Team's Reaction Says Everything

This is never good — but what the Baltimore Ravens have to say about it is arguably the worst part, at least for Matt Elam's career.

Elam, a safety for the Ravens in the NFL, was pulled over by cops in Miami, Florida early this morning, and booked into jail right before 4:00 a.m. on charges of possessing more than 20 grams of marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver, and possession of a controlled substance.

Elam, a 25-year-old who was the Ravens' first round pick in 2013, had been initially pulled over for reckless driving, and cops eventually found 126 grams of weed, as well as three grams of oxycodone, in his car.

NFL reporter Ian Rapoport tweeted out Elam's pending charges this morning (below):

Busted!

And then Rapoport also tweeted out something interesting — at least as far as Elam's football future is concerned.

Ray Rice had his domestic violence charges dismissed by a New Jersey judge after undergoing pretrial intervention.

What happens to men who get caught on camera assaulting their lady loves in an elevator? Well, if you're an NFL star, NOTHING!

That sad fact is the reality for one football player in New Jersey this week.

Ray Rice, the gridiron grinch who brutally beat his then-girlfriend - and now wife, the former Janay Palmer - last year in an elevator is getting a clean slate. WHAT?!

Ray Rice Now Eligible To Play In NFL After Brutal Domestic Violence Case

ray rice reinstated to nfl

We have to say this is still kind of shocking.

We knew Ray Rice was trying to be reinstated to the NFL this year, but we weren't sure it was going to happen considering the brutality of his domestic violence case.

But now, his indefinite suspension has been overturned.

A judge just ruled that NFL Commissioner Rodger Goodell abused his role when he extended Rice's 2-game suspension and made it an indefinite suspension. The judge determined that Goddell had no right to change the suspension after the video came out because Rice had already told the truth about what had happened.

However, the Baltimore Ravens did cut ties with Rice when this whole incident blew up, so it's unclear if Rice will be picked up by any team.
