U2 will debut their new single during a Super Bowl commercial

This is a GREAT idea!

It's been announced that U2 will debut their new single Invisible during a Super Bowl ad!

The commercial is sponsored by Bono’s foundation Red, as well as Bank of America who is donating $1 to the Global Fund for each iTunes download within 24 hours.

And that’s not the best news!

This single will be FREE!

The fundraiser has several focuses, but one is ending mother-to-child HIV transmission, and believe it or not, they say this can be done by next year, if they get the monies for it!

New music and you’re helping cure a disease? Count us in!

Bono talked about this “game changing influence,” and their partnership, which you can ch-ch-check out

Common's Chicago Home Snapped Up By Bank?!

common-foreclosure-bank-of-america.jpg

Mortgage payments… but that's just TOO common for supreme musicians like Common!

The soulful, thoughtful artist was apparently in danger of having his Chicago apartment foreclosed upon by Bank of America, because he allegedly hadn't paid the $2,285 monthly mortgage since March!

BoA was supposedly oiling the cogs to set the foreclosure in motion…

BUT, no worries, ’cause Common and his manager Derek Dudley had plans to sell the property to someone else, and worked out an amicable arrangement with the bank!

PHEW!

Bank Of America Sues Itself???

bofa.jpg

This one makes our heads hurt!

In some crazy, bizarre and just plain weird news - Bank of America has reportedly sued itself for foreclosure 11 times since late March.

Uhhh, what????

In one case BofA seeks to foreclose on a condominium, but lists BofA as the defendants in the suit.

In other words… They're suing themselves!!!

The End Is Near…For Credit Cards

the end is near for credit cards

Hopefully you like those smart phones, because by the end of the year, you'll probably be using them instead of credit cards.

Here's what Michael Abbott, the CEO of mobile payment network Isis had to say about the new technology:

"Your plastic card hasn't changed since the age of the vinyl records. This is the chance to bring payments forward from the plastic age and the vinyl records age to the digital age."

More on the subject from Mercator Advisory Group's director of emerging technologies George Peabody:

"Mobile payment is going to get really interesting and is going to see a lot of activity in 2011. We're going to start seeing more and more people leaving their homes without their wallets."

And more from Edgar Dunn & Co. consulting firm director Jane Cloninger:

"I definitely believe that the mobile wallet will eventually replace the plastic card — but it's going to take some time because consumer habits take a long time to change. But where before it's been a lot of discussion, we're at the point now where you're going to start seeing momentum toward it and going to see it move beyond the trials and into reality."

And here's what Bank of America's senior vp of online and mobile banking Michael Upton had to say about it:

"2011 is going to be a very exciting, very dynamic year when it comes to mobile payments because it's the Wild West again, with all these players positioning in various different ways to redefine the digital payments landscape."

But will this technology stop at mobile payments? More from Isis' Michael Abbott:

"[Payment] is where we're going to start, but where it goes is wide open to the innovation of other players who want to be involved."

We def don't mind using our credit cards, but it'll be inneresting to see if they do in fact start to fade away by the end of the year.

Team credit cards or Team mobile payments?

MJ's Dermatologist & BFF Sued!

Michael Jackson's dermatologist and "friend", Dr. Arnold Klein, is being sued for a million dollars by Bank of America.

HA! Sucks to be you, Doc!

BoA is dragging the loser to court, claiming that they gave Klein a line of credit for $500,000 two years ago and since then, he has been late on all his payments. And by late, we mean he hasn't paid any of them!

The bank is suing Klein for "breach of written agreement, unjust enrichment and indebtedness." They are seeking $937,381.20 in damages, attorneys fees — and is seeking a jury trial.

Oh fun! It will nice to see someone finally ream this guy a new one!
