Joanna's BFF Tracy Szymanski brought her to Israel for a bit of spiritual and physical rejuvenation, relaxation, and fun, and Joanna took it from there to reaffirm her religious beliefs in one of the holiest places on Earth!
Joanna spoke to us about her decision for the baptism — her first time as an adult, after being baptized as a baby — as well as what it meant for her to have the ceremony done in Israel on the historic Jordan River. She revealed:
On Friday, the 39-year-old actress and her family held a traditional Russian Orthodox baptism ceremony at the Holy Transfiguration Russian Orthodox Church in Los Angeles, California.
And she shared incredible photos from the beautiful ceremony right on her Instagram for all to see!
Milla wrote of that special day:
"Good morning everyone! I want to thank the super talented @mariagraziabruna (also a fellow Russian) for documenting Dashiel Edan's baptism last Friday! When we speak Russian we call her "Dasha", so her Saint's name is "Daria" (Дария). Amazing fact, Dashiel was born on April 1st which is also Saint Daria's Day! Amazing, right? She was born on the day of her namesake patron saint! (The christening was held at a traditional Russian Orthodox Church here in Los Angeles and its respectful for women to cover their heads before entering.) She just sent me this pic and it's so gorgeous!!! #Dashieledan"
Sounds like Dasha has the perfect patron saint name! How precious!

"Taylor Swift is dressed as a colonial-era woman on African soil. With just a few exceptions, the cast in the video—the actors playing her boyfriend and a movie director and his staff—all appear to be white. We are shocked to think that in 2015, Taylor Swift, her record label and her video production group would think it was OK to film a video that presents a glamorous version of the white colonial fantasy of Africa."
Whomp, whomp. To be fair they were copying the 1985 film Out of Africa.
