Hold up!

Despite earlier buzz that the fictional setting of Springfield on The Simpsons was named after a town in Matt Groening's home state, the creator now denies having ever said that.

Seems like The Simpsons are full of surprises nowadays!

But we never thought they would actually reveal the true location of Homer's beloved town of Springfield!

Matt Groening, the genius creator of The Simpsons, never ceases to amaze us!

In an recent interview, Groening explains which state had the original town that inspired the Springfield we personally have watched and loved for over 500 episodes and counting!

We're sure it's really hard to crunch all the best moments of The Simpsons into a five minute video, but this guy did a pretty good job. And he didn't add a silly song on top of it, so kudos to the young grasshoppah!
