One Year After The Paris Attacks, The Bataclan Reopens With A Powerful Performance By Sting

This is so moving.

One year ago last night, the entire world was rocked by the horrific and senseless terror attacks on Paris that left 89 people dead, including at the Bataclan theater during a performance by the Eagles of Death Metal.

Now, exactly one year later, the theater has reopened, with Sting delivering an incredible and memorable performance and a poignant message to those in attendance to commemorate those lives lost in the attacks.

It's a very powerful video (above), emotional to watch and think back to where we all were one year ago.

Our thoughts continue to be with all those affected, for we know though time may diminish the pain of loss, it never entirely subsides.

Eagles Of Death Metal Frontman Comes Out As Staunchly Pro-Gun A Day Before Returning To Paris

We're a little shocked by his opinion on the matter.

It's been 94 days since 89 people were shot to death at a concert inside Paris' Bataclan theater, and now one man behind the show is speaking out about his controversial stance on gun control.

Eagles of Death Metal have already talked about their experience with the terrorist attack back in November, but frontman Jesse Hughes' latest solo interview reveals he is actually extremely pro-gun.

The band is set to return to Paris to finish their concert series Tuesday night, so Jesse sat down with iTélé to promote the show on Monday where he was especially critical of France's gun control laws, saying:

We can't even being to imagine what this must have been like for them.

As you're surely aware, Paris went through a series of terrorist attacks almost two weeks ago that left 130 people throughout the city dead.

89 of those victims were attending a concert at the Bataclan on Nov. 13 to see the band Eagles of Death Metal perform, and while the members have spoken out about the massacre and the loss of their merchandise manager Nick Alexander, their first full sit-down interview was released on Wednesday.

VICE spoke with co-founder/vocalist Jesse Hughes, bassist Matt McJunkins, guitarist Eden Galindo, drummer Julian Dorio, and sound engineer Shawn London about their terrifying experience, as well as co-founder Joshua Homme who was not at the venue the night of the shootings.

It's an incredibly moving 26-minute piece, and while many would probably see the killings as reason to never play again, EODM stated that they're actually doing the opposite — using the ordeal to provoke positive change in the world.

Paris Attacks: Eagles Of Death Metal's Drummer Speaks Out — Wants Band To 'Finish That Concert'

The Eagles of Death Metal will never forget the show they were playing at the Bataclan concert hall in Paris that was cut short when terrorists shot 89 people dead earlier this month.

Julian Dorio, the drummer for the rock band, says he is "counting down the days" until they can return to the Paris arena and finish the concert.

On Tuesday, the band member took to Instagram to pay tribute to the victims who lost their lives in the devastating attacks, including the band's merchandise manager, Nick Alexander.

An American man named Matthew was one of the survivors who escaped terrorists at at the Eagles of Death Metal show the night of the Paris attacks.

But that wasn't the first time Matthew evaded tragedy — in 2001, he also survived the 9/11 attacks at the World Trade Center in New York.

The 36-year-old was shot in the leg by attackers in the Bataclan, but pretended to be dead and dragged himself to safety as they reloaded their weapons.
