The place for Beatles fans and art lovers this past weekend was the SoHo studio rented out by Yoko Ono to auction off some of John Lennon's artwork she had been holding onto. However, a Florida-based artist is claiming that the pieces for sale are actually fake, or rather "essentially cut-and-paste mashups of Lennon themes rather than Lennon prints."

Gary Arsenau, an "artist, creator of original lithographs, scholar, and author" claims that he has looked over the pieces carefully and noticed the discrepancies almost immediately. He explained to ArtInfo:

Alicia Keys will pay respect to the late Beatles guitarist ,George Harrison, next month when hosting her 8th annual Black Ball that benefits her charity, Keep a Child Alive.

The singer will honor Harrison's philanthropy work through his charity, The Material World Charitable Foundation, which he founded in 1973 to coincide with the release of his Living in a Material World album.

Last we heard from former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher, he was talking smack about Radiohead's latest release The King of Limbs.

Now, it appears that Liam has decided to spend his time in a more productive manner, because he's working on a Beatles movie about "the Fab Four's company Apple Corps," which will be based on the Richard DiLello book The Longest Cocktail Party.

Liam's got VERY ambitious plans for this project, and he wants Johnny Depp to star as the Beatles' long-time publicist Derek Taylor.

Here's what Liam had to say about it:

"Derek Taylor was a dude. He's up there with Lennon. The film script is done. It's gonna blow people's minds, man. I'm just waiting to find out when we choose the actors."

"I want Johnny Depp to play Derek Taylor. It's got Johnny Depp written all over it, man."

Guess we'll see if this project piques Johnny's interest. We know that Depp's already got LOTS of projects on the horizon, such as Dark Shadows, The Lone Ranger, and inevitably more Pirates flicks…but who knows? Maybe Liam will luck out and Johnny will say yes!

This is…um, different!

Paul McCartney has just finished recording an album that's devoted to covers of pop standards from the pre-rock years.

He worked with an orchestra to record nearly a dozen songs, including some with Diana Krall and her band.

Explaining the album, Paul says:

"It’s my dad’s style of music. I’ve wanted to do that kind of thing forever, since the Beatle days. But then Rod [Stewart] went mad on it. I thought, 'I have to wait so it doesn’t look like I’m trying to do a Rod.'

They’re just songs I admire, I’m trying to steer away from the obvious ones It’s get-home-from-work music. You put it on and get a glass of wine."

Paul also plans on going in the opposite direction and will begin work on another album that will feature "heavier rock." And he hopes to work with Dave Grohl on the new tracks. Paul says:

"It sounds quite wacky, but it keeps it fresh. I love that – you get a crazy idea and go with it. You never know – I may run into a garage to make this other album.

But it won't be in Dave's garage."

Wow, the man is in his late 60s and he still knows how to make great music and stay current. We applaud Paul and can't wait to hear his new albums!

Rihanna's S&M has officially hit the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart!

This achievement marks RiRi's 10th #1 hit on the chart AND given the fact that her first #1 hit on the chart was May 2006's SOS, she's achieved a record of having "the shortest span between a solo artist's first and 10th No. 1s in the chart's 52-year history." Wow!

The only artists who have gained 10 Hot 100 #1's faster than her are the Beatles and the Supremes. Not bad AT ALL!

Finally, RiRi has also become the youngest artist to land 10 #1's in the Hot 100 chart.

As far as potential Hot 100 competition from Lady GaGa is concerned, we'll see what happens there.

GaGa's Judas debuted at #10 on the Hot 100 chart, but it def has the potential to compete with RiRi for next week.
